DmC: Devil May Cry E3 2012 trailer introduces us to The Order

Dante hits the club and is ready to start trouble

DmC: Devil May Cry has been a controversial game ever since it was announced almost two years ago, but the more we see of the game, the more we’re sold on the western retelling of the demon hunter’s life. In the newest trailer, we get another peek at the demonic world beneath our own, but more importantly, we get to see the more rebellious side of our hero. Take a look…

Seeing Dante demolish that demonic hangout that doubled as as a night club was fun enough, but we also got to enjoy some of the well-realized facial acting that developer Ninja Theory brings to all its characters. We'll no doubt see the game on the show floor, so keep an eye out for our continued coverage.

I'm still not convinced. I don't have an issue with the game itself, looks fantastic, and I love the sense of humor and setting, the first two games in the series really didn't have much of a storyline. That being said what's going to make or break this game for me is how much they follow the source material. Which is not to say that I expect them to copy exactly from the previous games, that would kind of negate the point of making a reboot. But If they go too far in the opposite direction then it's going to piss off a lot of people. there needs to be a good balance between the source material and their own spin on it. It's part of why a good number of fans got pissed off by the serious, sadistic, edgy style that was originally how the new dante looked to be developing.

I become more convinced with each new trailer. I love the DMC series; glad it's not being ruined after all.

my skepticism has been silenced...for now. Need a gameplay trailer to totally sell me.

The trailer was great, and I'm still skeptical, but as you said I need gameplay.

Was skeptic when I saw TGS'10 trailer. No, scratch that, I despised how Dante looked in that trailer. But the more I see of this game, the more I get inclined towards the "DAY 1 BUY" thing. I mean, this trailer just rocked. Loved Dante's facial animations, especially at the part where he knocks the bouncer off and when he flings a stone at the camera. Mundus incarnate looks imposing and menacing. He should have a really gross, terrifying and powerful demon form, though! And loved the way this trailer started with the order leader (vergil?) speaking all that stuff. Overall, awesome work, NT. Gameplay looks good as ever. Keep it up. Really excited to see more footage. <3

I agree with pretty much everything you said there- apart from the order leader being Vergil. I seriously hope he's not. What I want is for Vergil to be left out of the game for now- and then have him as a big reveal (maybe even a co-op partner?) for a sequel. But I'd totally forgotten about Mundus. Plu,s i really like the reference to his father, so we know that the lore's going to be pretty much the same, and that Vergil is totally feasible. Are we to assume that 'The Order' is this univerese's version of The Order of the Sword? Because that'd essentially make this Dante the equivalent of Nero, and that'd be a hell of a bugger.
