Custom MechWarrior Online mech fights cancer

When a five-year-old girl who loved playing MechWarrior Online with her dad lost her fight with cancer, the game's community rallied around her family in Vancouver. Now players of all stripes can show their support by buying a radical custom mech for $10, with all proceeds after transaction fees going to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sarah Parries' custom Jenner Class Chassis Champion Mech comes with a 10 percent XP bonus. More importantly, it has colorful decals from flames on the cockpit to an Inner Sphere Pony.

MechWarrior Online itself is free to play and in open beta on PC, but Sarah's Jenner will only be available for purchase through August 20.

This is not what I expected from gamers. I guess there are good gamers and bad. :) RIP to Sarah.

I love it when companies do things like this. Gets me right in the feels. Good on MechWarrior for doing this.

It's so nice to see things like this. Gives a good old kickstart to that old faith in humanity metre.
