EA and Crytek have lifted the veil Crysis 3, treating fans to an early look at Major Laurence “Prophet” Barnes's next New York mission. As teased in last week's report, Crysis 3 leaks onto Origin: more info promised soon, the sequel will find the Prophet returning to a very different New York City in an effort to exact revenge on the Cell Corporation and the Ceph forces that stand in his way.

The sequel will be set inside one of the Cell Corporation's Nanodomes, called The New York City Liberty Dome. Here, players will journey through seven distinct districts (aka the “Seven Wonders”) in search of remaining Ceph aliens and the Cell Corporation bigwigs responsible for encasing New York in the city-wide domes under false pretenses. Players will be equipped with an enhanced nanosuit, composite bow, and “devastating alien tech” to aid them in their journey.

“Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love,” explained Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli in today's announcement. “Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”

A regular version of Crysis 3 will ship alongside a Hunter Edition featuring early multiplayer access to the game's bow and attachments, as well as a special "Hunter" nanosuit. Preordering the Hunter Edition from will also net players a multiplayer XP boost, unique bow skin, and other online bonuses.

Crytek also revealed preorder incentives for all versions of Crysis 3. The freebies include the Stalker Pack, featuring Hunter Edition content and early access to the auto Jackal shotgun in multiplayer; the Overkill Pack, featuring the Hunter Edition content and early access to the Typhoon assault weapon and skin; and the Predator Pack, again including all the Hunter Edition goodies plus early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun. EA has not yet said which retailers will be offering which preorder content.

Crysis 3 is in development for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC for arrival in spring 2013. Are you up for the hunt?

Oh lawd, once I got that extended cloak upgrade the game became a joke

-More open, sandbox-style gameplay -A mix of the jungles of Crysis and the New York of Crysis 2 -Sounds like the word "Hunter" is being used a lot here. Could possibly mean the return of the Predator-style stealth murdering that I oh so love, and with a bow as well! As long as Crytek improves the A.I. I think this game will turn out damn good!

Urban jungle...literally...Just take my damn money already!

GamesRadar this is ridiculous. These screen shots are MASSIVE, and yet you guys always give up these tiny pointless sized versions of the same pictures. Why? do not tell me you are incapable of at least linking to the bigger versions somewhere else. Even if you could not display them in your viewer there is absolutely no reason to show these off in such a small size. Screen shots are already very little content, and you drop their size by more than half??? Shenanigans, completely and utter shenanigans.

So are we playing as Prophet? or alcatraz? does anybody know what happen to nomad?
  • comaqi - April 16, 2012 9:36 a.m.

1 and Warhead were great, 2 was a good shooter but it wasn't Crysis. I hope Crysis 3 will return to its roots.
  • keltar93 - April 16, 2012 9:21 a.m.

I'm down for this. Haven't gone back to play original yet, but really enjoyed 2.
  • FOZ - April 16, 2012 9:11 a.m.

    This pre-order stuff is asinine.
  • Net_Bastard - April 16, 2012 8:31 a.m.

So wait, does this game take place in a jungle or a city? Looks a bit more non-linear than Crysis 2, and that's always good. And EA is now gouging this game with pre-order incentives. Great.
  • FOZ - April 16, 2012 9:02 a.m.

It's both. Everyone should be well-aware of New York City's tendency to transform large sections of itself into jungle.

wow...could they get a bit more confusing with the preorder packs and such?? This is why I don't preorder anymore. I'm not being nickled and dimed for a few extra skins and "bow"....
  • Person5 - April 17, 2012 1:50 a.m.

its not like it costs extra to preorder though...
  • DeathNick88 - April 16, 2012 7:18 a.m.

I have a feeling, that because of EA it's going to be shit.
  • Net_Bastard - April 16, 2012 8:32 a.m.

EA published 1 and Warhead, and those games were amazing.
