Once upon a time in 2004, an ambitious and exciting fan mod project began to come together. It was called Black Mesa: Source, and it was intended to remake the entirety of the original Half-Life to the standard of the modern Source Engine. There was an exciting teaser trailer in 2005. Then a full-length trailer in 2008. Then there was a release date of late 2009, which came and went. And then there was a great deal of bugger-all.
But now, finally, just when the wait has gone on so long that I've gone past the point of frustration and actually forgotten that the project was happening at all - whereby any new information actually becomes an exciting surprise all over again - some new screens have been released. Along with some teases that the mod might actually, maybe, really, possibly, if we all sit around in a circle, join hands and hum at just the right cosmic frequency, be released soon.
So get humming, people. Hum until your lips bleed.
