Apex Legends Octane is live now, here's how to get him and how he plays

Apex Legends' Octane is finally in the game. The first post-launch character for the game was added along with the patch that enabled the Apex Legends battle pass, and he plays almost exactly like all the leaks indicated: a super mobile character who can trade HP for even more speed, and help his allies get around the map with a deployable launch pad.

How much does Apex Legends' Octane cost?

You can pick Octane up for the same price as Mirage or Caustic: 12,000 Legend Tokens, which can be earned in-game, or 750 Apex Coins. It looks like that will be the standard price for all new characters. You can buy him from the Legends tab of the game menu.

How does Apex Legends' Octane play

Octane's title should give you the gist of his approach: he's the "High-Speed Daredevil". If you've been following Octane since the first leaks hit, you should note that he plays a little bit differently in his release version, though not by much. Here's Octane's official character rundown from Respawn Entertainment.

Passive: Swift Mend
While not taking damage, Octane restores 1 health every 2 seconds.

Tactical: Stim
Move 30% faster for 6 seconds. Costs health to use. While active, Octane is affected less by attacks that cause slowdown. 2 second recharge.

Ultimate: Launch Pad
Deployable jump pad that catapults players through the air. Takes 90 seconds to recharge.

That's a nice, quick recharge time on his Launch Pad. Probably fast enough that you'll be able to use it at least once per engagement on average, which should be a pretty cool way to surprise enemies.
