Interactive cutscenes? Day and night cycles? Collectibles? What tired, overused gameplay idea have you grown to hate over the years?

Our answers Friday, suckas!

Oh jesus bloody sh**c**k. I hate QTEs with a passion.

Hated them in Shenmue and hated them every other gorram time they've popped up. I have a minor form of dyslexia which prevents me from getting those damn things to work properlike.

I got the everloving sh**christ blown out of me last night in Prototype because I failed to deactivate the sensor thing in time because of the QTEs. And don't even get me started on Blitz's use of them for kickoffs. >_<

I am absolutely sure that, one day, I will go on a spree of death and mayhem thanks to some bullsh** QTE sequence that is required and involves more than just the four colored/symboled buttons. I will, of course, blame it on something else. Like the Bible.

Non-recharging health. I thought we had finally abolished the concept when Halo and Call of Duty really got the ball rolling, but NO, Half-Life 2 and its subsequent episodes are TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL.

EDIT: And DON'T TELL ME it's more realistic than magically regenerating health. Walking over a pile of medkits to instantly heal yourself is BS.

ALSO, the end all be all answer to this question: shitty games. Okay, that didn't really make sense.

Escort missions; you don't see them too often in top dollar games, but they still exist and they are still a huge pain in the ass. The real problem with them is that you generally have to escort someone who is completely incapable of defending themselves, prefers to stand directly in the line of fire, or continuously ends up dieing through sheer stupidity and bad AI.

Multiplayer modes thrown in at the last second, collectible items, (like Holotags, Radio Tags... nearly every tag in every game) and generic multiplayer modes that you've seen in every game in the past 15 years. (CTF, Deathmatch, etc.)

I'm not saying I don't like those modes, but I'm saying that they need to come up with some more creative stuff. It's so rare that they do.

SONIC BOOOOOOOBS!

Seriously, only 10-year-olds buy games that are tits-based. Plus, it just shows the immaturity of the game.

Endlessly Replenishing Health. I guess it makes sense in FPS' but seriously.. Its begun creeping into other genres. I assure you if this continues, in the future we'll have zelda games with replenishing hearts.

Its absolutely ridiculous.

here here. qte's are a drag. that and finding 50,000 collectibles (i.e. all the flags in assassins creed and all the orbs in crackdown)...is it sad that i complain about it but i still try to look for them?

Hidden Collectables.

I don't want to shoot 200 pidgeons, or collect flags, or collect the stupid materials in Mass Effect. Does anyone ever collect things without using a guide? If you did I bet you didn't enjoy it one bit. I BET! Even when I find one I sometimes won't pick it up out of fear that it'll cause me to **** up in finding them all later when I use a guide to do it. You all know the paranoid feeling when you turn up to a spot to find something and its not there. Did I get it already? Or am I reading the guide wrong!??!?!?

_____ Time. Bullet Time, Assassin Time, Witch Time, Adrenaline Time, Focus Time, Super Dee-Duper Slo-Mo Time, it's all the same goddamn thing. Apparently developers think that if they give it some fancy name, we'll think it's new and fresh. They're wrong.

That and pointless good/bad morality choices. It's bad enough when they're the InFamous brand of obvious black-and-white choices, but putting them in there just for the sake of having an extra features bullet point when they don't even affect the gameplay (aside from two marginally different endings) is even worse.

Again I'm going to have to go with 435 on this one. I loathe quicktime events. That is the whole reason I LOATHE the God of War series. I mean one little mistake and you're screwed.

Quick Time Events I've had to play one game with them and instantly I was annoyed by them they don't need to be there, they really don't. I died at least 5 times in one sequence in RE5, I have really bad reflexes, and it doesn't help that you have 2 seconds to press the buttons in the right order or die.
