Loki season 2 has now surpassed its halfway point on Disney Plus, and pulled the rug out from under us with one heck of a cliffhanger. Just when we thought the real threat would be the new Kang variant or a rogue Miss Minutes, the Temporal Loom proved to be the biggest danger to our unlikely band of heroes and well, we'd argue no one can predict where the show will go from here.

Loki season 2 review
Here at GamesRadar+, we reviewed the first four episodes of the new season. Our Loki season 2 review gave the verdict: "Loki season 2 is a fast-paced and thrilling return to the world of the TVA, but its focus on the bigger Marvel picture loses some of the God of Mischief's magic."
Loki season 2 cast and crew
Tom Hiddleston, Jonathan Majors (as Kang), Owen Wilson (as Mobius), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (as Ravonna Renslayer), Wunmi Mosaku (as Hunter B-15), Eugene Cordero (as Casey AKA Hunter K-5E) and Sophia Di Martino (as Sylvie) all return in Loki season 2.
Newcomers include Rafael Casal as Hunter X-05/Brad Wolfe and Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan.
Loki season 1 showrunner Kate Herron previously revealed her departure from the show, stating that she never planned to do a second season. "I'm really happy to watch it as a fan next season," Herron told Deadline. "I just think I'm proud of what we did here and I've given it my all."
Instead, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead direct four out of six episodes. The duo directed two episodes of the Marvel series, Moon Knight, which stars Oscar Isaac as a superhero who suffers from a dissociative identity disorder. Dan DeLeeuw and Kasra Farahani direct the other two episodes.
The first season's writers Michael Waldron and Eric Martin have also returned, though Martin has taken over head writing duties from Waldron.
Loki season 2 story so far
The season premiere begins with Loki time-slipping through the TVA. It turns out that he was skipping between the past and present – to stop the glitching, Loki and Mobius go to a new character named O.B. and ask for his help. Strangely, he's never had his memory wiped by He Who Remains. It turns out that Mobius will have to head outside the TVA while Loki prunes himself – the idea is Mobius catches Loki and stops him from becoming lost in time. Loki is pruned by a mystery person after following the sound of a mysterious phone call, but Mobius is able to save him. In a post-credits scene, we see Sylvie at McDonald's in the '80s. The episode also featured a cut Moon Knight Easter egg and an X-Men Easter egg. For a full rundown, head to our Loki season 2, episode 1 recap.
The second episode reunites Sylvie and Loki, but not before the God of Mischief and Mobius track down Hunter X-05, who is busy living his life as Brad Wolfe on Earth. After interrogating X-05 (and a mid-showdown break with some key lime pie), he finally gives up Sylvie's location. Unfortunately for those looking to save the TVA, General Dox and her minions are busy bombing different branching timelines. Despite Loki and Sylvie coming to save the day, the damage is already done: multiple timelines are wiped out and billions of lives are lost in the process. The brain trust of O.B. and Casey at the TVA, meanwhile, surmise that Miss Minutes is in league with Renslayer. Find Miss Minutes, find Renslayer and, maybe, they might find the He Who Remains' variant(s). Whether they do remains a mystery, though the episode ends with Sylvie holding a mysterious bangle that could be the key to it. For more, check out out full Loki season 2, episode 2 recap.
Episode three takes us on a trip back through time – to 1893, to be exact. Here, Loki and Mobius are trying to track Renslayer down as they know Miss Minutes is with her (Miss Minutes is needed to stop the temporal loom melting down, remember). However, they get more than they bargained for when they run into Victor Timely. After chasing him across the country, everyone winds up in a dramatic fight at Timely's lab. Here, Miss Minutes tries to seduce him; Loki, Mobius, and Timely end up getting shoved through a time door to the TVA, and Sylvie pushes Renslayer through another to the End of Time. It's this last moment that is really interesting too, as Miss Minute teases that she has a big secret to tell her, but it's going to make her very mad. 'Heart of the TVA', which marks the fourth episode of season 2, is undoubtedly the most dramatic one of the show so far, as it sees Loki and the gang fail to fix the Temporal Loom from destroying, well, everything. In the run-up to that catastrophic cliffhanger, however, Team TVA try their best to save the day, enlisting the help of Victor (and perhaps more crucially, his Throughput Multiplier), pruning Renslayer, and shutting down Miss Minutes. Dear oh dear!
Elsewhere, Loki gives Sylvie a lecture about the importance of trying to mend things that are broken, rather than opting for the easy approach of burning everything to the ground, and Mobius weighs up his decision not to look at his real life on the Sacred Timeline. Loki season 2 theories
There are plenty of theories for Loki season 2 that have us very intrigued.
One theory speculates that Kang's motivations all come down to love – specifically, love of Ravonna Renslayer.
Another suggests that O.B. could be more sinister than he appears and in league with He Who Remains.
A hidden detail in episode 3 might prove that Kang helped invent the arc reactor.
We'll just have to wait and see whether these prove true as the show continues.
