Nerdy gift giving is my love language, and these are the Switch 2 accessories you should gift your Valentines
These Switch 2 accessories are perfect for any Nintendo-loving Valentine
Valentine's Day is on its way.
Some use the special occasion as an opportunity to grab a bunch of flowers and some chocolates and call it a day, and if that's what your partner likes, then fair play to you. If your special someone is instead obsessed with the Nintendo Switch 2 as much as I am right now, chances are they'd much prefer to find some of the best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories come their way this February 14.
If you're not a Nintendo fan, you might be a little clueless as to what accessories would make the perfect gift. Luckily for you, I've had real-world experience with a whole range of Switch 2 peripherals that would make anyone swoon. To save you time, I've gathered all my favorite Switch 2 accessory gift ideas down below, and even provided some extra tips to make your partner's upcoming nerdy Valentine's Day one to remember.
1. Belkin Charging Case for the Nintendo Switch 2
Belkin Charging Case | $69.99 $59.99 at Amazon
Belkin Carrying Case | $29.99 $24.99 at Amazon
If your Valentine has been playing the new handheld since launch and hasn't yet got one of the best Nintendo Switch 2 cases to call their own, the Belkin Charging Case would be the ideal gift next month. It looks plain, so it's not going to suit everyone's aesthetic, but it packs in a 10,000mAh power bank to help fight back against the handheld's measly battery life.
Trust me, with playback that can barely reach up to 4 hours, the gift of a better battery life is one your Valentine won't forget.
The Animal Crossing New Horizons Version 3.0 update has just released, and already I've had a few moments where I had to lean over my bedside and frantically find the charger as the handheld was about to call it quits. I don't want to make assumptions about the kind of Switch games your Valentine's-to-be plays, but if you've spotted them doing the same, this case can help. The power bank is actually built into the lower section, so the handheld can be charged while out and about too.
It does add a little bulk, which is a bit of a bummer. So if that's a deal breaker, there's always the Belkin Carrying Case you can gift instead. It lacks the power bank but keeps all the other benefits of the other case - including storage for up to 12 physical games, a fabric mesh pocket for small accessories, and a hidden Apple AirTag slot.
Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more
Valentine Pro Tip 1: If you want to go the extra mile, buy a Switch or Switch 2 game that your partner has been eager to get a hold of, and pop it (along with any others if your budget can stretch) into the game storage pockets. That way, they'll open the case to find even more wonderful gifts inside.
2. SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless headset
Arctis Nova 3X Wireless - Lavender | $109.99 $88 at Amazon
Arctis Nova 3X Wireless - Aqua | $109.99 $74.20 at Amazon
It's very likely your Valentine's will already have one of the best gaming headsets at their disposal, but that's why I've included a whole variety of accessories as part of this gift guide. If they don't happen to own any headset to use exclusively for the Switch 2, then my top pick is easily the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless.
Right now, the pair of cups reigns supreme in our best Nintendo Switch headset guide and for good reason. For one, they look fantastic as SteelSeries introduced two new colorways with this pair. If your Valentine has a particular cute and cozy look to their Ninty gaming setup, the pastel purple color of the Lavender SKU (which you can see in the image above) or the stunning teal Aqua SKU would be ideal.
Of course, you can grab the white and black versions too, as they're all the same high-quality and well-built headsets under the hood. The Nova 3 Wireless is equipped with the brand's iconic 40mm Neodymium drivers, which make all my Switch 2 games from Donkey Kong Bananza to Mario Kart World sound fantastic. More importantly, this headset in particular comes with the brand's new slimline 2.4GHz wireless dongle, so your Valentine can just pop it in one of the handheld's spare USB-C ports and go away with annoying Bluetooth pairing. (Though there's Bluetooth support in there too.)
Valentine Pro Tip 2: Find out the color theme of your partner's Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 setup and pick the Arctis Nova 3 Wireless headset that best suits it. Trust me, some people take the theme of their gaming setups very seriously, and finding the perfect match will go a long way to showing you care.
3. 8Bit Do Ultimate 2 Wireless Switch 2 controller
8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless - White | $59.99 at Amazon
8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless - Purple | $59.99 at Amazon
One of the best Nintendo Switch 2 controllers is a perfect gift idea for Valentine's Day, especially if your loved one prefers to play in docked mode. If they already have the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, I'd maybe steer clear of a gamepad, as they have the best that there is out there. However, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless is a great alternative if they've been dreaming of a premium pad.
The Ultimate 2 is missing the amiibo reading and GameChat button of the first-party alternative, but I'd much rather gift this over Nintendo's pad. For one, it's available in different colorways like the headset I've mentioned above. That means you can grab the pad in your Valentine's favorite color, which is not possible with the official Pro controller.
Better yet, this pad is oozing with quality. It's the very controller I own in my Switch 2 setup, and its ergonomic form factor makes it incredibly comfortable to hold, even after long Tears of the Kingdom gaming sessions. It's also equipped with TMR thumbsticks, so your loved one won't have to worry about it catching a bad case of stick-drift.
The controller also features Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless support, and it can hook up to the Switch 2 easily by popping the dongle into one of the ports on the new Switch 2 dock. It might need a firmware update or two to work straight away, but once it does, they'll have one of the most comfortable wireless controller experiences for the handheld. It also has some RGB lighting around the sticks, for that extra bit of pizzazz.
Valentine Pro Tip 3: Go the extra mile by taking the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 controller carefully out of the box and updating it online to ensure full Switch 2 compatibility. That way, your Valentine can open it up and play it without issue on Valentine's Day, especially as it's on a Saturday this year.
4. Amiibos
View amiibo starting from | $15.99 at Best Buy
View amiibo starting from | $19.99 at Nintendo US
They might not have a spot on the best Nintendo Switch 2 accessory guide, but amiibos are one of the best Nintendo gift ideas you can grab for any Nintendo fan, especially on Valentine's Day.
The little collectibles are essentially just plastic toy representations of iconic Nintendo characters, but they're integrated with NFC tech that can be read on the handheld to unlock in-game features and extras. If your Valentine is an amiibo fan, it's likely they'll already have a blossoming collection of the things, but with over 934 out there, there's bound to be a few missing that you can pick up as a gift.
If they're a big Animal Crossing New Horizons fan, I highly recommend sticking with one of the Legend of Zelda or Splatoon amiibo figures. That way, they can unlock the new Zelda and Splatoon exclusive villagers and all their exclusive items for decorating their island. Yet, no matter if your Valentine is obsessed with Animal Crossing, Zelda, Splatoon, or game series' like Pikmin, Kirby, and Metroid, there's a plethora of amiibo out there for you to grab. They're one of the cheapest accessories I've included in this guide, so even if your budget is small, you'll be sure to find one worth gifting.
Valentine Pro Tip 4: There are over 934 amiibo out there, and not everyone shares the same love for the same Nintendo characters. Find out what your Valentine's favorite first-party Nintendo games are, and try to stick to grabbing figures from that series. If they're a card collector, the Street Fighter 6 amiibo card starter pack might be a better choice.

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
