Asked about Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, Warhorse Studios vaguely teases "there are plans in motion"
"Plans for immersive RPG"
Warhorse Studios has thrown fans wanting Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 a bone, though its tease is vague enough that it could only be considered a fish bone.
Several developers from the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 maker recently held a Reddit AMA to field questions from fans of the historical series, and as you'd expect, the topic of a potential threequel popped up quite a bit.
When asked if there are any plans for good old Henry's story to continue in a Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3, studio content director Ondřej Bittner teases, "There are plans in motion. Plans for immersive RPG. Hope that eases your mind." Dear reader, it did not.
Article continues belowSome Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 hopefuls took this is as official confirmation and began celebrating that a third game was already in the planning phase. Others rightly pointed out that Bittner's response was pretty non-descript, and the only thing it does confirm is the existence of an RPG, not the RPG that some fans are wishing into existence.
Earlier in the year, a report claimed Warhorse Studios had been put to work on a AAA Lord of the Rings RPG since the studio's parent company, Embracer Group, owned the Middle-Earth franchise. The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) reportedly invested about $100 million into the rumored game's production.
Warhorse Studios remained similarly coy and hush-hush when asked about the possible Lord of the Rings game, as well, only again confirming that, yes, it's making another immersive RPG.
I wouldn't take the developer's Reddit AMA responses as confirmation one way or another – they're likely legally obligated to not give much away – but I'd bet the idea of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 is at least a germ in someone's brain right now. It is the franchise that put the studio on the map, after all. Whether KCD3 is the studio's next game is another question entirely, however.
Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more
In another response from the thread, Bittner says he "personally cannot wait for the reveal" of whatever the team's next game is, "but the only timeframe I can put on it is: near future. Sorry for the ultimately vague answer, but my hands are tight."
