Is the Battlefield Battle Royale Redsec free to play?
The new Battlefield 6 Redsec BR mode will indeed be free to play

Is Redsec, the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale mode free to play? The new BR for Battlefield is going to be released along with Season 1 for BF6, but obviously that multiplayer experience was part of a paid package, whereas Redsec is a different standalone entity with its own rules separate to Battlefield 6. I'll explain what you need to know and if Redsec will be free below.

Is Battlefield Redsec free to play?
Yes, the new Redsec Battle Royale mode for Battlefield 6 will be completely free to play and won't require any expense on your behalf, though will doubtless have optional payments and microtransactions once you're through the door. This has been confirmed through the countdown reveal for the official release trailer, which (though not out yet) mentions that it's free to play in the video description.

Do you need PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass for Battlefield Redsec?
By all accounts you should not need PS Plus or Game Pass to play Battlefield 6 Redsec Battle Royale on either PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X respectively. Though this hasn't been confirmed officially, free-to-play games don't require multiplayer subscriptions to play as a rule, and with Redsec being free, that same rule should also apply to it. So unlike the multiplayer component of the core Battlefield 6 game, Redsec is open to all users, regardless of subscription.

Do you need Battlefield 6 to play Redsec
Short answer, no you don't need Battlefield 6 to play Redsec. The Battle Royale exists as a standalone Redsec download on PC, PS5 and Xbox. It will download some Battlefield 6 bits, as it exists in within that game but it's more of a wrapper than anything else. Redsec itself is still free and works without Battlefield 6, you can just see some BF6 menu stuff when you get it, that will ask you to upgrade (buy the main game) if you try and access any of it. Obviously you don't have to and Redsec just runs on its own, for free, despite all the extra bits around it.
