Daredevil: Born Again season 2 showrunner holds back on saying whether Luke Cage and Iron Fist will join a Defenders reunion in the MCU: "That's not really up to me"

Will Mike Colter's Luke Cage and Finn Jones' Iron Fist join the MCU alongside Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones and Daredevil for a full-on Netflix Defenders reunion? Even the showrunner of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, which brings back Jessica, doesn't have a full answer, saying it's not entirely his decision.

"That's not really up to me," showrunner Dario Scardapane tells EW. "Jessica's with us because Jessica's awesome and you'll see in this story what that means. Did I dodge that good enough?"

It has yet to be seen how Jessica Jones will fit into the plot of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 or whether the show will address the whereabouts of Luke Cage and Iron Fist in the course of its eight-episodes. Nonetheless, it's been one of the primary questions on the minds of fans since half of the Defenders, Jessica and Daredevil, were announced to reunite in Born Again.

Speaking only for myself, I could take or leave Finn Jones as Danny Rand, but if Mike Colter doesn't return as Luke Cage at some point, I'm gonna be heartbroken, especially with so much left untouched in the relationship between Jessica and Luke from comics.

Colter himself is on board for a return, saying earlier this year that he's been in touch with Marvel about reprising his role.

"Look, I mean, here's the thing: I have been talking to Marvel, and Jessica's back, and there's a lot of story left to tell," Colter previously stated. "And I just think that it'd be a shame for me not to pop back up."
