Halo 5 will take a step back in time for its next update, dubbed Memories of Reach. Not only will you be able to slaughter your fellow Spartans in Infection mode (which first debuted in Halo 3), but you'll also have the chance to pick up a weapon from Halo 2, and armor from .
Infection works much the same as you remember. There are 12 total players, some of which begin the game as Flood (that's "space zombie fungus" for those unfamiliar). Get killed by a Flood and you'll spawn as one of them next round. While Spartans can use all of their abilities, Flood will be limited to Thrust, Smart Scope, and Stabilize. No Ground Pound for you, infected.
If you've been mourning the loss of the Brute Plasma Rifle from Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST, weep no more. Memories of Reach is bringing the Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle Jiralhanae Variant, AKA Brute Plasma Rifle, AKA The Red One, back.
The real treat though is the Halo: Reach armor that will be added to Halo 5's REQ system. Noble Team may be dead and gone, but as GameSpot reports, you'll be able to dress up as Jorge, Emile, Carter, and Kat to your heart's content. It's no Halo: Reach remake, but I'll take it - I always liked Reach's armor designs the most out of the series.
Memories of Reach is expected to make landfall later this month.
