Rotburn is probably the most important resource in Cult of the Lamb Woolhaven, added as part of the DLC and used mainly as a power source for the Rotburn Furnaces that prevent your poor followers from being chilled by the increasingly aggressive winters, though there are other uses they can be put towards. Below I'll lay out the major ways that players can quickly farm Rotburn in Woolhaven, so you never run short of this essential (and slightly gross) resource.

Rotburn can be obtained in multiple ways while playing Woolhaven, but there are several methods for farming that are particularly effective.

  • Rotburn Mines: Rotburn mines are unlocked through the second phase of Divine Inspiration upgrades, which themselves become available when you return enough Lost Souls to Yngya to trigger the second level of Woolhaven Winter. They branch off the Baptismal Bath in the tech tree, and once purchased, you can build Rotburn Mines in your base that your Followers can constantly mine for fresh Rotburn.
  • Consecration: The Consecration Table includes multiple new recipes for creating Rotburn out of other materials. These don't have to be unlocked by any means – they should be available from the moment that Rotburn is revealed within the game.
  • Exploring beneath the Mountain: The Rot Caverns beneath Ewefall Mountain are, unsurprisingly, full of opportunities to harvest rot. You can actually pick routes dedicated to harvesting it, assuming the randomised paths provide you with one.
  • Having your Rotten followers die: No matter how they're killed, when Rotten Followers die (or rather, expire), they leave chunks of Rotburn behind in your base that you can harvest manually, chiselling them up out of the ground. Depending on whether you choose to purge or embrace the Rot in Woolhaven, this could be more or less frequent, but either way: free decay!

Because the Winters can be so harsh in Woolhaven, it's essential to have a good supply of Rotburn to feed the furnace. Later on, you can expend large quantities all in one go in order to cancel the effects of Blizzards, a useful feature.
