Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder and DC animator Bruce Timm have released a two-minute animated short to celebrate Superman’s 75th anniversary.
Kicking off with the Action Comics cover that started it all, then plunging through Superman’s history all the way to this year’s Man Of Steel , it’s a swooping, primary-coloured zip down memory lane.
There are cameos from Jimmy Olsen and Krypto, plus John Williams' iconic Superman theme gradually transforms into Hans Zimmer’s emotive Man Of Steel score.
Though there are a few notable omissions, there’s no denying this has heaps of style – and the moment the Action Comics cover springs to life is enough to send any comic geek into a tizzy.

“It was Zack Snyder’s idea,” says Timm, who’s worked on DC’s Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited . “We had approached him about maybe doing a short for the DC Nation program on Cartoon Network.
“He said, ‘I’ll think about it,’ and then he had this idea to do basically the entire history of Superman in, like, a minute. We said, ‘Okay… whoooo.’”
Snyder is currently working on the next development in Superman’s history, Batman Vs Superman , which will star Henry Cavill as Supes and Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight.
Batman Vs Superman opens in cinemas in 2015.
