Doctor Who star Matt Smith to play major role in new Terminator movie

No stranger to wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff, the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith, has landed a role in Terminator: Genesis .

Game Of Thrones director Alan Taylor is to head up the sequel which is intended to be the first of a brand new Terminator trilogy.

Smith is reportedly taking on a ‘major role’ which will be further developed in the second and third films of this new trilogy.

The Easter Island statue lookalike will star opposite Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, who’ll play Sarah Connor, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes star Jason Clarke, as John Connor, and A Good Day To Die Hard ’s Jai Courtney, as Kyle Reese, while Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his iconic cyborg.

Post Who , (after The Doctor’s controversial regeneration into Malcolm Tucker), Smith’s making leaps into the movie world with Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River (formerly called How To Catch A Monster ) due to premiere at Cannes later this month.

No news yet on exactly who Smith will play, or whether Alan Taylor will let him wear his fez.

Terminator: Genesis will open on 26 June 2015.
