Diablo 2 is definitely tops in my book. Plowing through an area pulling agro on everything in sight, rushing through to the next area while the pally and sorceress take rear guard. good times.

Secret of Mana was personally one of the best co-op experiences for me.

Great list, but more importantly, fantastic Adventure-Time-referencing strapline.

I know everyone has complained about Uncharted 3s multiplayer, but me, some roommates, and eventually my brother all really enjoyed the co-op campaign aspects that it had as well. It was a lot of fun, and really enjoyable. In addition to some of these great selections of course.

It seems to me that the PS3 was pretty much ignored for this article. No LBP, no Uncharted, no thatgamecompany. Even the multiplatform games have Xbox inferences. Plus the lack of Borderlands, but there's no fanboy rage in saying that.

Wow. I expected Army of Two to be number one. Imagine my shock when I saw it wasn't even on there at all. Especially considering that this is the Bro-Week. That game is probably my favorite co-op game of all time. Oh well. Borderlands would have made a good addition, but no big deal there.

    Borderlands :(

Is this a joke? No littlebigplanet?

You know, I was all ready to comment about the omission of one of my favourite co-op games of all time, the Timesplitters series, but then I read your comment. LBP is practically the perfect game for co-op.

Maybe Ellis is, but the rest of L4D2 is nowhere near L4D1's characters. "Nobody likes Rochelle" is practically a running joke, and Nick is just the result of somebody removing everything that makes Francis funny and giving him a suit. The level design wasn't nearly as focused as the first game either. But since you can play almost all of L4D1's campaigns in L4D2, it doesn't really matter anymore and would make no sense to put L4D1 instead. Streets of Rage II is here, so it must be credible.

Ehhh, L4D2 is a little boring to me. I agree entirely with Diablo 2, though. Co-op on that game is great.

Great list GR. I have to say I agree with most selections on this list, since I tried 80% of them and they all came to mind (plus Borderlands and maybe even PixelJunk Shooter) when I saw the title.

Left 4 Dead 2 is one of my favourite games. There's just something about it that doesn't get old. Maybe it's the AI? Maybe it's the humour the game offers? I can go months without playing it, but then want to play it again, with intensity. It's The Left 4 Dead Effect.
