Nebora in Divinity Original Sin 2 is one of the first NPCs you'll meet in Fort Joy, a Blacksmith who implies she can remove your Source Collar – but she seems unwilling to do so. In fact, getting Nebora to help isn't a particularly complex task, but that doesn't mean it's easy, as it turns out that only The One can be entitled to freedom from their collar – whatever the heck that means. Below I'll explain how to get Nebora to help you, and the steps needed to get your collar off for good.

To get Nebora to remove your Source Collar in Fort Joy, you need to complete the Fort Joy Arena successfully and be declared the winner. To do that, you need to do the following:

  1. Go to the Fort Joy Kitchen (in the center just South of the Waypoint statue)
  2. Speak to the NPC Noosey, and she'll tell you about the Arena of Fort Joy, accessible at a hatch next to her (shown on the map above).
  3. Go down through the Hatch and speak to Thola when you're ready to begin an arena fight with multiple enemies.
  4. If you win, you'll be declared the Champion of Fort Joy.
  5. Go to Nebora and tell her that you are the Champion. She'll remove only the main character's collar, not the Source Collars of all your party.

Winning in the Arena isn't easy – you'll want to be at least level 3 and ideally level 4 or 5, and you definitely want to save before you go in, as failing locks you out of a second attempt.

Otherwise the other thing to remember is that once your Collar is off, all Magisters will be aggressive towards you. If you surrender, you'll be put in the Fort Joy jail and have to escape, or it will go to combat if you fight. Either way, it's best to do this when you have an exit to Fort Joy clearly planned, so having your Collar removed can be the last thing you do before you leave the fortress.

Keep in mind that Nebora is not that the only means to remove Source Collars, but she is the earliest choice in the game. The NPC Leya at the Sanctuary of Amadia can remove them (found outside of Fort Joy), and all Collars will also be taken off the party automatically in the finale of Act 1, if you didn't use either of these methods.
