Finding Sand Raiders of Sophie Coral Chunks and Weird Coral is essential if you want to upgrade your tech tree and unlock new things for your Trampler, such as Mk2 Energy Rods. To get that upgrade in particular, you need 150 Coral Chunks and 15 Weird Coral, which is quite a lot of each. It'll take you several expeditions (or one really long one if you're well-stocked and willing to risk staying out so long) to gather all of that and more, so I've explained where you can find Weird Coral and Coral Chunks in Sand below to hopefully speed up your resource gathering.
Where to get Sand Raiders or Sophie Coral Chunks
Coral Chunks seem to have a high chance of spawning in varying quantities from Rare Valuables Safes usually found in named points-of-interest – these are the large black-and-gold box-style safes. From my time playing Sand Raiders of Sophie, I've only ever found Coral Chunks in these safes, so keep an eye out for them as you explore – if you want to progress through the tech tree, you'll need to plunder a lot of them to get enough Coral Chunks.
How to get Sand Raiders or Sophie Weird Coral
Meanwhile, Weird Coral seems to have only a chance to drop from defeated Upiors – the coral zombies that can also usually be found at points-of-interest but can occasionally spawn at random shipwrecks found as you roam the desert. The fact that the drop rate of Weird Coral seems to be quite low means you need to kill quite a lot of those coral zombies to get enough for any tech tree upgrades.
In short, the best thing to do to gather up both materials is to take your Trampler over to any named point-of-interest on the map and kill every Upior and loot every container you see, especially safes. There are usually lots of empty boxes lying around, so I recommend picking one of those up to help you carry more stuff. When you press Tab to open a container, such as a safe, you can dump its contents into the box rather than your inventory.
Since looting POIs can take a long time, especially if you're playing solo, you'll want to avoid using things like Sand Raiders of Sophie flares to avoid drawing attention to yourself. You might even want to turn off your Trampler's engine to get rid of the billowing black smoke cloud that comes out the exhaust, though it will turn off by itself if you're too far away.
Once you've plundered the area, you might want to move onto the next POI or evacuate to bank your loot, in which case you need to know how to extract in Sand Raiders of Sophie.
