Tacsim in 007 First Light explained
Tacsim in the James Bond game is a series of optional challenges and missions
The Tacsim in 007 First Light is a second mode where James Bond can do replayable operations and challenges, effectively little tests of skill in "Tactical Simulators" where players can just enjoy the game without the context of narrative, and unlock new outfits, gadgets and weapons along the way. Below I'll explain everything you need to know about this gameplay mode and what it does for 007 First Light.
What is Tacsim in 007 First Light?
Tacsim, or the Immersive Agent Training and Tactical Simulator, is an optional game mode picked from the main menu of 007 First Light, or from Q's basement at certain points in the story, in which James Bond can do various stealth and combat challenges, as well as training tutorials that explain certain gameplay mechanics, whether it's throwing a simple punch, or learning how to grab rush in 007 First Light and use enemies to cushion your fall.
As you play Tacsim, you'll unlock Intel and raise your clearance level by playing through challenges with escalating difficulties like The Training, The Test, and The Showdown that introduce the challenges, and lets you practice them before a final, tough conclusion.
- Intel is a currency earned by completing Tacsim missions and optional challenges within those missions. You can spend it to unlock new 007 First Light Outfits, gadgets, weapons and upgrades to bring with you into other Tacsim missions.
- Clearance represents your overall progress in Tacsim - effectively, your level. It can't go down, and certain Intel purchases are gated behind higher clearance level. For example, you can't buy the Missile Pen until Clearance level 15.
Developer IOI have already confirmed that Tacsim will be getting more content updates in the future, including race tracks based around the Valhalla spy car.
How to unlock Tacsim in 007 First Light
The Tacsim mode in 007 First Light unlocks after you complete the mission 0, "Against All Odds". However, more challenges within it are locked behind story progression, so you'll be able get more out of Tacsim mode the more that you progress with the campaign.
