There might be something hiding in the Avengers: Doomsday "surprise" more than just coffee – and it's linked to Thor and Loki
Did you notice the runes?
Marvel fans were left disappointed when a teased "surprise" from the Russo brothers for Avengers: Doomsday turned out to be a Doctor Doom-themed coffee shop pop-up. However, it seems there may have been a few big Easter eggs that we missed on first glance.
As one fan on Reddit pointed out, on the coffee menu shared for the event there are what look like Asgardian runes at the top. Written underneath the title "Dom Latveria Coffee" is a series of symbols that look very similar to what we've seen in the MCU so far on Mjolnir and other Asgardian objects. Check it out below.

Fans have been trying to translate them and work out if there's a hidden meaning behind the symbols or whether they're just spelling out the title in runes. "I’m pretty intrigued to see what appears to be Asgardian runes used there," wrote one user on Reddit, before later adding: "A few can be matched right now to this writing on Mjolnir from one of the What If episodes. And I know for a fact I've seen a few others too (like the one that looks like a 'B', have definitely seen that before on something)."
While they didn't manage to work out what exactly they mean, other Marvel fans have been contemplating how they set up a link between Victor Von Doom and the Asgardians in the MCU, Thor and Loki.
In a separate Reddit thread, some noticed that the Latverian flag shared at the pop-up event looks like it has Loki horns on it too. "Loki as Latveria's patron saint...? Does Doom get the idea of time travel from him?!," one wrote, while another pointed out the link to the runes: "Scrolled past this but now that I think about it, there were runes on that coffee shop menu.."
We do know that both Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Tom Hiddleston's Loki are both confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. What we don't have any idea of yet is how they'll be brought into the story.
However, it does seem like an intriguing theory that Victor Von Doom has some kind of link to the Asgardians. There are several potential ways they could be connected, as speculated by Marvel fans, including via time travel or through magic. We'll have to wait and see if anything more is teased about this in the lead up to the movie's release.
