Avengers: Doomsday event disappoints after trailer no-show and bizarre autographed Doctor Doom coffee gifts
The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is nowhere to be seen, despite the much-anticipated UK event
No, the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday isn't here. Despite a day of unprecedented hype, a pop-up event in London saw directors The Russos arrive to sign bags of Doctor Doom-themed coffee.
Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo had launched a wave of speculation just 24 hours ago with teases of a surprise for UK-based fans in London.
Unfortunately, it fell flat (white), with only coffee aficionados happy that Marvel spilled the beans in another way.
Many had anticipated a trailer would be released today, especially with the Russos in attendance.
At best, all we got was a slew of Doctor Doom-themed Easter eggs as part of the coffee lineup, including nods to the character's mother Cynthia and Latveria's deposed king Vladimir Fortunov.
Thanks to GamesRadar+ entertainment editor and caffiene-fuelled roving reporter Jordan Farley, we now seemingly have a glimpse of Latveria's MCU flag. So, at least that's something.
If you've been following the drip-feed of Doomsday announcements in recent months, you'll be acutely aware that a trailerhas been released already. That was available to audiences at CinemaCon, and showed Thor duking it out with Doctor Doom.

Prior to that, the only Doomsday marketing involved four teaser trailers attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash screenings across December and January. They began with the return of Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, and continued on with Thor, X-Men, and Wakanda/Fantastic Four-themed clips.
Confusingly, the Russos described those teasers as "stories" and "clues." They also whetted appetites worldwide by declaring the next Avengers movie would be a "complete reinvention for Marvel."
"I don't think the audience is expecting it at all, what happens in the movie, and its tone and its subject matter," Joe Russo said on his production company AGBO's YouTube channel.
To help prepare us for Doomsday, Marvel is re-releasing Avengers: Endgame with fresh Doomsday footage. If this trailer is anything to go by, we'll be there on day one.
Avengers: Doomsday, starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and more, hits cinemas on December 18.
