Set in a nightmarish future world where women are powerless and subjugated, The Handmaid's Tale was one of the most talked about TV events of 2017.

But it wasn't the first time Margaret Atwood's classic dystopian novel had come to the screen. A movie version was released in 1990, with some true A-list talent behind it: starring roles for Natasha Richardson, Faye Dunaway, and Robert Duvall and a screenplay by legendary playwright Harold Pinter.
