It's an exciting time, so below I've brought together everything in release date order, so you can easily get an overview of everything that's on the way and start building up your wishlists.

This list regularly gets updated as more announcements are made, so keep an eye on it for future additions. I've also added major upcoming Switch games that are playable on the Switch 2 as well, so you truly aren't missing out on any major titles. People of Note

Release date: April 7, 2026

I love a good turn-based RPG, so I'm very excited for People of Note. In this new Switch 2 game, you play as the pop singer Cadence, who is on a quest to reach stardom. Working with a team of colorful character's, you'll have to progress the story with tempo-based rhythm combat, timing your attacks to the music in order to come out on top. I'm also very intrigued with the ability to mash-up music styles together with your teammates here. All in all, People of Note looks super fresh and very fun.

Release date: April 8, 2026

It was recently revealed that Pokemon Champions will be heading to the Switch 2 on April 8. This is massive news for competitive players as the upcoming PVP experience will let you build up your dream team of cute fighters and go head-to-head with other players around the world. The good news is that we also know that the game is "free-to-start" on the Switch 2. A paid version has also been discussed. We’ll keep you updated as more details about these two versions get announced.

We recently learned that a new Tomodachi Life game is coming to the Nintendo Switch after over a decade of fans waiting, and the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Direct confirmed it will be compatible with Switch 2 systems when it arrives this April. Tomodachi Life was a Nintendo 3DS knock-out back in the day, and it looks like it's coming back with its signature weirdness in tact.

Mouse: P.I. For Hire

Mouse P.I. For Hire screenshot showing a gun firing at mice dressed as '30s gangsters in a hand drawn old cartoon black and white art style

Release date: April 16, 2026

The Switch 2's mouse controls make FPS games a whole lot more approachable, so it makes sense that one of the most anticipated cartoony violent games of the year would be coming to the new console. Mouse: P.I. For Hire is an action-packed game inspired by 1930s classic cartoons, where you take on the role of private investigator Jack Pepper. It's up to you to solve a mystery while you also blow away enemies in a black and white noir world filled with white-gloved characters, expressive rats, and plenty of charming explosions.

Opus: Prism Peak

OPUS Prism Peak screenshot showing a photographer who wears glasses carrying a smiling girl on his back

Release date: April 16, 2026

Opus: Prism Peak is an upcoming narrative adventure that tells the story of a photographer who returns to his hometown but then finds himself stranded in an ethereal mountain realm. Originally, this one was scheduled to be released in March. However, I can forgive the delay because it looks so darn interesting. By using your camera, you'll have to solve puzzles and uncover secrets. It's a unique premise, and the story also seems to be very emotionally packed. One I'll for sure be checking out.

High On Life 2

Using Sheath, a gun with a fang-toothed face, in High on Life 2 to blast through Human Con, where aliens party in human mascot costumes

Release date: April 20, 2026

High On Life 2 was released earlier in February 2026 on PC and other modern consoles, but the good news is that it's coming to the Switch 2 in April! The FPS is just as hilarious as the first game, and in our High On Life 2 review, we loved how unpredictable it can be as well. Combat is a bit lacking, though, and some of the crude humor doesn't land, so keep that in mind before you make your purchase.

Kingdom's Return: Time-Eating Fruit and the Ancient Monster

Not only did the 2025 Game Awards reveal the release date for Capcom's highly anticipated action adventure, Pragmata, but it's also confirmed it's coming to Switch 2 at launch! In Pragmata, you'll follow the story of a stranded astronaut named Hugh who, with the help of an android companion called Diana, must battle his way through a lunar research station in a bid to return to Earth.

Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth

Release date: April 27, 2026

Moomintroll: Winter's Warmth is a cozy follow-up to Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley. In this point-and-click adventure game. you'll play as Moomintrol who sets out on an adventure after waking up from hibernation. The art style looks like a storybook, and if you're familiar with Moomin stories by Tove Jansso, you'll know that this is probably going to be an extremely wholesome delight of a story.

Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories

It promises to be one very thoughtful and laidback experience.

Mixtape from Artful Escape developer Beethoven and Dinosaur is a narrative-driven adventure that's inspired by coming-of-age movies. As you explore the greatest hits of a group of friends on their last night together, you'll play through a mix of memories with a seriously good soundtrack that boasts the likes of DEVO, Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Joy Division, and more.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Indy looking at a gold artefact during one of the best Xbox Series X games, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Release date: May 12, 2026

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the best games to have been released in 2024, and now it's set to come out on Switch 2 this May. If you've ever wanted to play as Indy, crack a whip, or punch a few Nazis in the face, then this is a must-play. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has some of the most fun first-person puzzles and fist fighting action you can tuck into. Truly a masterful experience that you can learn more about in our Indiana Jones and the Great Circle review.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

Yoshi and the Mysterious Boook screenshot of Yoshi smiling with eyes closed

Release date: May 21, 2026

Yoshi is finally getting a new page-turning game that looks utterly delightful. Set in a mysterious book that's said to be filled with unusual creatures, we got to see the storybook style of the 2D platformer, with Yoshi encountering a talking book called Mr E. The chapters appear to act as different levels, and there's even adorable little characters that can buddy up with us, like a flower who appears to be able to make plants blossom.

Tales of ARISE - Beyond the Dawn Edition

Tales of Arise

Release date: May 22, 2026

If you love JRPGs and stories with video game couples that steal hearts, then Tales of Arise - Beyond the Dawn Edition will be right up your street. This edition includes the base game as well as the Beyond the Dawn DLC, and some new content to boot. I won't get into any story spoilers here, but know that this is an action RPG with fantasy elements, so if that isn't your vibe, stay away.

Bubsy 4D

Bubsy jumps towards more platforms in Bubsy 4D

Release date: May 22, 2026

The last time we got a 3D Bubsy game was back in 1996, so needless to say, the fact that Bubsy 4D is releasing on the Switch 2 is a pretty big deal. This new game will have you facing new challenges as you have to deal with the fallout of the Woolies stealing all of Earth's sheep and then coming after The Golden Fleece as well. I have a personal vendetta against platformers, but even I'm looking forward to this one, as Bubsy is known for having massive personality and promising all us gamers a good time.

007 First light

Coming from the same developers behind Hitman, IO Interactive, you can expect to dive into the origin story of a young Bond as he's offered to join the newly revived 00 program. Expect plenty of cinematic action, car chases, stealth, and gadgetry.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Release date: June 3, 2026

Following in the footsteps of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which landed on Nintendo's latest console this January, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is also coming to the Switch in 2026. As the second part of the iconic RPG, you follow Cloud and the gang as they set out into the wider world beyond Midgar in pursuit of Sephiroth. As our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth review highlights, it's full of meaningful changes and companion moments that make this sequel well worth stepping into.

eFootball Kick-Off!

Release date: June 3, 2026

The Switch 2 is already home to plenty of great sports games, and the new football title, eFootball Kick-Off! Is set to be added to the console's collection sometime this year. Announced during the Nintendo partner showcase in February, the game offers both online and offline modes and will let players establish their own club team in the World Tour mode of the game as well. This looks to be a solid FIFA alternative.

Denshattack!

Release date: June 17, 2026

Denshattack promises to draw you into a dystopian Japan in a new platforming, fast-paced adventure bursting with color. While grinding and flipping are usually tricks performed on a skateboard, you'll instead be performing these slick moves to rack up points and take on boss battles with a customizable train. And rather than ramps, you can expect to speed with style across railway tracks, oceans, and even through a volcano.
