New Super Mario Bros. 2 goes for the gold
Nintendo's golden boy returns to the DS
Nintendo zeroed in on a release date for New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the 3DS. The company announced the new Mario game will come out August 19 during its E3 press conference.
This time Mario takes a page from Wario’s book. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is all about the gold. We saw a few screens of Mario grabbing every coin he could get his hands on. And there were more coins than we have ever seen in a Mario game, gold coins practically erupted from stomped enemies. We also saw Mario tossing fireballs at gilded Piranha Plants and he even donned a golden costume as well.
But Nintendo didn’t share much beyond a few short clips of Mario going for the gold. Nintendo promised more Mario news during its DS only press conference on Wednesday. The presentation is at 6 p.m. PDT and can be viewed on Nintendo's E3 streaming site.
