The battle between the big football games never comes down to on-pitch action alone: it’s also an endless war for official team names, stadia, player faces, kits and so on. To that end, EA has announced a full Bundesliga tie-in for FIFA 20 – adding more than 180 player faces and 13 new stadiums in the process.
FIFA 20 Bundesliga integration covers the top two German leagues, and follows similar moves to include the entire English Premier League, which began with FIFA 15, and the Spanish La Liga, as occurred from FIFA 19 onwards. The two leagues cover 36 clubs in total, some of whom – such as Holstein Keil and SSV Jahn Regensburg – didn’t have a single real player face in FIFA 19.
EA is yet to release a full list of new player scans, but sharp-eyed community posters have spotted a few in FIFA 20 Twitch coverage from Gamescom. They include Sven Ulreich and Jann-Fiete Arp from Bayern Munich; Bayer Leverkusen’s Lukas Hradecky, Kevin Volland, Leon Bailey, and Jonathan Tah; and Roman Burki, Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel of Borussia Dortmund.
Witsel should be especially pleased about this announcement, after he publicly pleaded with EA to update his likeness midway through last season.
Thanks but can we fix my in game face first? 👀😂 pic.twitter.com/3Ujh3lkIkLDecember 19, 2018
To keep track of more player likeness spotting, I recommend the excellent, and always reliable, FIFA 20 Starhead Thread on the official EA forums.
