All Shells in Mortal Shell 2
Each Shell in Mortal Shell 2 grants it's own unique ability, so here's what we know so far about them all
It's in the name - Mortal Shell 2 Shells are kind of what the game is all about. As the Harbinger, you'll inhabit these mortal shells, giving you abilities they learned in life.
There are a total of nine Shells in Mortal Shell 2, a significant upgrade from the first game, and some of those are reappearing characters from the original. Since each Shell bears its own unique ability and has its own main weapon, you'll want to know what each does and where you can find it. So, prepare to read the word 'Shell' a lot in the next few hundred words as I guide you through all the Shells in Mortal Shell 2 and their abilities.
All confirmed Mortal Shell 2 Shells
These are the four confirmed, named Mortal Shell 2 Shells so far, with another five to be confirmed before the full release:
- Harros, the Vassal (prologue only)
- Tiel, the Acolyte
- Eredrim, the Venerable
- Proxima, the Broodseeker
Harros, who returns from the first game, is once again the tutorial Shell, and cannot actually be equipped past the end of the prologue. That doesn't make him any less important, though, as you'll see when you take on the Mortal Shell 2 Tar Golem.
Each of the other eight Shells, though, can be equipped once you've found them, with Tiel being the first. As a thief, Tiel's special ability is Shadow Strike, giving him the Shadow effect and allowing him to pass through objects, avoid hits, and deal a devastating surprise attack with his dagger.
Shell abilities and attacks can be upgraded at the Marrow Keep by speaking with Zhirelle, the Shellkeeper. When talking to Zhirelle, you'll be able to experience the lives of each Shell through their memories, learn more about their power, and upgrade them using the Bonding system, at which point you can unlock ability upgrades.
While each Shell has their own ability and weapons, Mortal Shell 2 Seals, Tarstones, and other items are applicable across Shells, so make sure you equip the best ones.
An infographic on the game's Steam page, which you can see above, confirms that there are nine shells in the full game, including the ill-fated Harros, and not including the Harbinger himself.
Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more
Outside of the two beta Shells: Harros and Tiel, only Eredrim and Proxima have been confirmed, with Proxima being the only new Shell that's been shown off so far. Other characters have been seen in trailers, but since we're not totally sure who they are yet, I've left them off this list, though one does appear to look similar to Mortal Shell's Sester Genessa.
The Steam infographic also seems to confirm that Solomon is the only Shell from the first game not to be returning in the sequel (apologies to any fans of the Scholar).
