Epic Games' Fortnite has gone far beyond its original pitch, so picking out the best games like Fortnite can be tricky. What was at one point a survival shooter morphed into a battle royale and has now become a hub of different experiences, offering Rocket Racing, a competent rival to the best racing games, a LEGO survival sandbox, a rhythm game, and so much more. It's a versatile hub of games to dip in and out of.

But because of that, you may be looking for a game that resembles what Fortnite was originally supposed to be. You may want a multiplayer shooter or one of the best battle royale games that is more polished and premium-feeling. Maybe you want another game that offers a mixing pot of ideas and experiences to try out. If that is the case, here are 15 of the best games like Fortnite to play right now.

The best games like Fornite to play right now

15. Worms Rumble

A worm holding a gun during Worms Rumble.

Developer: Team17
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch

You may like
  • Best battle royale games - Warzone 2 screenshot of a male soldier in a helicopter, flanked by a female and a masked soldier, holding his hand out to the player The best Battle Royale games to play in 2026
  • Team Fortress 2 soldier holding two grenades 25 Best free PC games to play in 2026
  • Peak screenshot showing players climbing an icy cliff The 25 best co-op games you can play in 2026

Worms isn't turn-based anymore, it's a full-on third person multiplayer shooter. Thirty-two players, a big arena, and all the classic artillery and weapons from the original Worms games, now with the fuses burning away in real-time in Worms Rumble.

For those who found themselves enjoying the cartoony art style and chaotic combat of Fortnite, this feels like a natural relation. It offers the same colorful and strangely cute vibe that Fortnite does so well, so it will be right up your street for sure. Just don't pet the sheep!

14. Super Animal Royale

A group of players shooting at each other during one of the best games like Fortnite, Super Animal Royale.

Developer: Pixel Studios
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Switch

Super Animal Royale's aesthetic is unique on this list, and you may not have heard of it before despite its consistent support for several years. It is a 64-player, top-down, 2D battle royale where you play as a variety of murderous animals. Grab a machine gun and mow down your opponents in teams of up to four players as you try to be the last animal standing in the safari park.

The game really takes the safari park setting to the maximum with animals that you can ride to traverse and tonnes of lore and discoveries to make that add context to the bloody fights that take place. Additionally, it has a wealth of content to collect and earn, including hundreds of animal breeds, alongside dozens of weapons and outfits to change how your furry fighter looks.

13. Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite multiplayer

Developer: 343 Industries
Platforms: Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC

The long wait was largely worth it – despite some understandable quibbles, Halo Infinite has proven itself a solid spiritual successor to classics like Halo 3 and Reach.

Even though the battle royale mode was canceled, the multiplayer itself includes huge arenas for dozens of players, colorful weapons, and a robust multiplayer experience that's easy to pick up after just a couple of matches. Oh, and better yet, Halo Infinite's multiplayer is free-to-play and supports cross-play. The only downside is that updates and new content have halted for the game.

12. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

A screenshot of Fall Guys, one of the best games like Fortnite.

Developer: Mediatonic
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS

Wobble all you like; just don't fall down! Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is a Total Wipeout/Takeshi's Castle-inspired Battle Royale platformer in which dozens of players precariously totter their way to victory. A brightly-colored obstacle course means that while you don't always directly fight, you are in competition, either racing to the finish, trying to outlast other players, or playing sporty minigames against each other.

Years of content updates mean there is ample variety here now and even the ability to create your own levels, run custom lobbies, and more. It's unlike anything else on this list, but Fall Guys is still a fantastic time even today.

11. Naraka Bladepoint

Three characters getting ready to fight during one of the best games like Fortnite, Naraka: Bladepoint.

Developer: 24 Entertainment
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, PC

Naraka Bladepoint is a huge hit in Asia and has maintained a strong fanbase elsewhere since its launch on PC and consoles. However, unlike most of the battle royales on this list, Naraka Bladepoint has one core unique difference: it's melee-focused. Yes, it is one of the only melee battle royale or extraction games on the market.

With more than 15 characters, each one offers something for melee fighter fans that the genre isn't offering anywhere else. Additionally, the game has a co-op campaign mode where you take on a series of challenges as a team, defeating hordes of enemies and, eventually, a boss. It requires a specific taste, but if you are looking for a melee battle royale, Naraka Bladepoint is one of the only options on the market.

10. Apex Legends

The title screen for Apex Legends, one of the best battle royale games

Developer: Respawn Entertainment
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch

From Respawn, the developer behind Titanfall 2 – one of the best FPS games ever, comes Apex Legends. Now, years on from its launch it has firmly held its place as one of the best battle royale games, adding a Legend almost every season and consistently refreshing the experience.

Offering the depth of Overwatch 2's heroes in a battle royale: these characters are as distinct as they get. You play in groups of three, so there's always someone to watch your back - but you don't have to stick together if you don't want to, and the movement, combat, and experience are of a similar quality to the Titanfall games. In short, it's a fantastic, well-supported battle royale game.

9. Fortnite: Save the World

Fortnite Save the World

Developer: Epic Games
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Mac

So, this is cheating a bit, but instead of getting a game like Fortnite, why not just get more Fortnite? Save the World is the premium release that predates the battle royale side of the game, and it's still a fantastic shooter that takes the core elements of Fortnite and puts them into a different wrapping.

It's a co-op tower defense, letting you and your buddies build up fortifications before flooding the zone with enemies to take down together. It's a lot of fun and is deserving of your time if you want to take on different adventures with Fortnite's core art style and its shooting/building mechanics.

8. Synduality: Echo of Ada

A screenshot of one of the best games like Fortnite, SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada.

Developer: Game Studio
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X, PC

Synduality: Echo of Ada is a lot different from most of the other games on this list. While it is still an extraction shooter, it is primarily a PvE one. In a CradleCoffin, you venture up to the surface in the year 2222 to find and harvest AO crystals, obtain new gear and ammo, and collect resources to upgrade your base of operations. Doing all of this allows you to enhance your weapons and craft new facilities for your CradleCoffin’s garage that can allow you to build new armor parts.

There is even a single-player set of missions and repeatable tasks to work your way through if you don't want to worry about crossing paths with others. On top of that, there is PvP, but most players you see won't engage with it. While not the deepest or most polished game on this list, Synduality: Echo of Ada is unique in its structure and how each venture up to the surface plays out.

7. Call of Duty: Warzone

Call of Duty Warzone

Developer(s): Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch, Raven Software
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC

Even if you don't own Call of Duty Black Ops 6, you can jump into Warzone; this huge battle royale takes the improvements made with Black Ops 6’s omnimovement and gameplay and brings them into a new genre.

Several years after release, Warzone is still going strong, with a host of modes, fast-paced rounds, and objectives to complete in a match to earn Killstreaks, perks, rare weapons, and more. You can even 1v1 players in a small cage match to respawn, and airdrop in custom loadouts. Full crossplay means you can play with anyone, no matter the platform too.

6. Helldivers 2

A group of players shooting enemies during one of the best games like Fortnite, Helldivers 2.

Developer: Arrowhead Game Studios
Platforms: PS5, PC

Helldivers 2 took over in 2024. A game that seemed set up to flop by Sony due to a lack of marketing became a TikTok and community sensation on PC and PS5 thanks to its Starship Troopers-esque humor. As a Helldiver, you go out on missions to kill swarms of Terminids, armies of Automatons, and legions of Illuminate forces in a bid to save Super Earth, completing objectives like destroying outposts or nests and then extracting back to space.

However, what really makes Helldivers 2 stand out is the game's physics and friendly fire. One misplaced airstrike can kill your team, and bugs can swipe at you and send you flying like a ragdoll. Combining Stratagems with your team, unlocking new tools and vehicles as you play, and enhancing your arsenal with weapons from Warbonds offers some of the best action you will find right now in a PvE experience.

5. Among Us

Among Us

Developer: Innersloth
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android

Among Us isn't a Battle Royale shooter – there's definitely no guns beyond the occasional little animations that appear when you trigger kills, and crafting doesn't come up either. Still, it's a perfect substitute for the social element of Fortnite, a form of online coffee shop or soccer field to meet with friends and just have fun.

Among Us is famously a game about sneaking, suspect gameplay, where a team of little astronauts are all running around to get their shuttle shipshape... but at least one of you is a secret killer, trying to murder the rest and avoid accusation by pinning the blame on others. It's great fun, and while the price varies from console to console, it's always pretty cheap and is even free on certain platforms.

4. Minecraft

Minecraft

Developer: Mojang Studios
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android

Minecraft has been doing Hunger Games/Battle Royale/Last Man Standing deathmatches for years, and there are still dozens of servers dedicated to such a mode on PC. Communities like Mineplex are the best for offering balanced and competitive rounds set in the wonderfully blocky Minecraft world.

Seeing as destructibility and building are key selling points of Minecraft in general; it was only a matter of time until Battle Royale snuck in. Of course, the combat is never going to compare to the fluidity of Fortnite, but when it’s as adorable as Minecraft it's always going to be great fun. And, it's kid-friendly!

3. Roblox

A screenshot of one of the best games like Fortnite, Roblox.

Developer: Roblox Corporation
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Quest 2, Quest Pro

Much like Fortnite itself, Roblox lets you do just about anything. It's a creation engine that every kid and teenager today has either played or is actively playing. It's a machine, spewing out new social experiences and games, from fashion shows like Dress to Impress to Squid Game-esque competitions to entire first-person shooters and racing games.

It is all built with the tools Roblox offers, and Fortnite can't even come close to the amount of experiences available within Roblox. While it isn't the most premium or polished game on this list, it is one of the most popular and a place where you can find something to play, no matter your interests.

2. Hunt: Showdown 1896

Three hunters holding guns during one of the best games like Fortnite, Hunt: Showdown 1896.

Developer: Crytek
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X, PC

Hunt Showdown is widely considered to be one of the best extraction shooter/battle royale games available today, and it comes from Crytek, a developer who changed the shooter genre with Crysis. It is also one of the only historical games on this list compared to the collection of futuristic and modern-day takes on the genre. Set in backwaters, lost to history, you fight against monsters that act as mini-bosses and other players to claim their bounty, unlock dark powers, and grow your wealth.

However, it is a brutal extraction shooter, as every death is permanent, and every item you are holding will be lost upon failing to escape the twisted horrors lurking in the swamps. It is one of the most immersive extraction shooters on the market and one of the most unique takes on the genre even now, years after its release.

1. PUBG: Battlegrounds

An image of a selection of playable characters from PUBG Battlegrounds, one of the best battle royale games

Developer: PUBG Studios
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, iOS, Android

Before Fortnite came along, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, aka PUBG, was the king of the Battle Royale genre. It has the same 99 v 1 gameplay, but it's much more serious, realistic, and intense than Fortnite.

PUBG is now free-to-play, too, allowing players from all platforms to come together and fight it out for survival across eight maps. PUBG is for the crowd who like a touch of realism in their battle royale games, and don't want enemies to build a fort whenever they're shot at.
