The Boys fans are questioning a possible plot hole surrounding Soldier Boy's past with Stormfront

As The Boys season 5 continues on Prime Video, the show continues to hint at a past relationship between Soldier Boy and Stormfront. However, fans have found a possible flaw with this story.

In the most recent episode of The Boys, Soldier Boy reveals that he has always been in love with Clara Vought, aka Stormfront. So much so that when he sees footage of Homelander and Stormfront up to some indescribable funny business, Soldier Boy is enraged. He tells Homelaner that he doesn't deserve the V-One. However, later in the episode, he gives the formula to Homelander anyway, claiming it's what Clara would have wanted.

With this, we can presume that Soldier Boy and Clara Vought had some kind of meaningful relationship, which was enough to steer his judgment decades later. However, The Boys fans have found a possible plot hole with this, as Soldier Boy was also in love with Crimson Countess.

"Soldier Boy Paul said that he loved Countess and even wanted to have children with her," said one fan on Twitter. "And when he met her after his return, he told her that he had been waiting for her to save him throughout his torture period with the Russians because he loves her, so how did he suddenly become infatuated with Stormfront, whom he only mentioned twice?"

Thanks to a flashback in season 3, we know that Crimson Countess was Soldier Boy's girlfriend and part of the Supe group known as Payback. However, in 1984, Payback was dispatched to Nicaragua to help with the war, but ultimately compromised the mission, and Soldier Boy was captured. But it was later revealed that the team actually handed Soldier Boy over to the Russians on purpose due to his abusive behaviour. In the present time, when Soldier Boy breaks free from the Russians, his first stop is Crimson Countess' place, where he kills her in the name of revenge.

Soldier Boy's sudden infatuation with Stormfront is a bit surprising. However, we have to remember that the pair were two of the first people turned into superheroes by Frederick Vougt using V-One, so their past dates all the way back to the '40s. Soldier Boy has been alive for a very long time, and obviously didn't have any contact with Clara for some years, as he was unaware of her rebrand as Stormfront. By the time he had met Crimson Countess, it had been 40 years since he was turned into a Supe. Plus, who says you can't love two people during your whole, immortal lifetime?
