It seems as though Daredevil: Born Again took criticisms on board last time around, as season 2 has debuted to a higher Rotten Tomatoes score than season 1.
At the time of writing, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 sits at a near-perfect 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, falling from 95% when the show first dropped. This is a step up from Daredevil: Born Again season 1, which currently sits at 87%.
In our Daredevil: Born Again season 2 review, we call Born Again's sophomore season "a marked improvement on season 1," with "standout supporting turns from Deborah Ann Woll and Wilson Bethel, and some timely political allegories." However, we conclude that the series "is still struggling to reach the heights of the Netflix show."
Critics are applauding the slight changes to the Marvel show, as Dominic Griffin from Looper wrote, "Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is a meaningful evolution that captures a lot of what has made Daredevil such a beloved character in print." Clapper writer Carson Timar said, "Season 2 feels like a worthy evolution for the series."
Other critics are applauding the show's step up in terms of action and overall darkness, as Charlie Cox's Man Without Fear plays in the shadows, whilst Wilson Fisk continues to rule over the city. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is the gritty, A+ masterpiece we’ve been waiting for," said Michael Sowell from Nerdspin, and FandomWire's M.N. Miller wrote, "Daredevil: Born Again's sophomore outing is so brutal, visceral, and resonant that it sets a new standard for Marvel Cinematic Universe streaming television."
However, not everyone is a fan, as Hoai-Tran Bui from Inverse said, "Like many seasons before it, Born Again Season 2 is an occasionally thrilling, often frustrating, new chapter for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen."
Born Again season 2 continues Kingpin's hunt for vigilantes as Matt Murdock forms a resistance group to fight back against the Mayor's agenda. Alongside Cox, the season welcomes back Vincent D'Onofrio as Fisk, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Wilson Bethel as Bullseye. The series also adds Matthew Lillard as the mysterious Mr. Charles, and marks the return of Defenders star Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones.
