One potential James Bond has taken himself out of the race as he's "too old," and it's a role "you could never come back from"
Theo James isn't interested in playing James Bond
The White Lotus star Theo James has taken himself out of the James Bond conversation. The actor, who has long been one of the many names linked to the franchise, is about to star in the second season of Netflix's The Gentleman.
"I'm definitely too old now, for one," the 41-year-old actor told GQ when he was asked about Bond. "But, yeah, that would be an example of a place you could never come back from." The conversation followed comments from James too about his fear of becoming too famous and losing anonymity, as he almost did when he starred in the Divergent series.
"Imagine, suddenly, you and I cannot walk down the street," he added. "What that does to your children, who are trying to find themselves in the midst of hyper-scrutiny and fame. None of that, to me, is worth it. At the time, it’s very intoxicating, being offered some huge, sexy part that would change your life forever. But it really wouldn’t ultimately be worth it."
Bond would certainly be that kind of role as one that defines your career for the rest of your life. Currently, Amazon Studios are searching for a new actor to take on the iconic part ahead of the new movie with Denis Villeneuve in development.
Another star whose name has been suggested is Lanterns actor Aaron Pierre, after Henry Winkler tweeted his support after the premiere of the HBO Max show. GamesRadar+ recently brought up the comments to him, "I think that is an enormous compliment, and I appreciate it greatly. That's very kind. It's a very kind thing for someone to say."
