Wednesday season 2’s mystery Avian actor filmed the shock reveal on their very first day on set: "I had to understand their motivations very quickly"
Wednesday season 2, part 1's mystery villain has been unmasked

The cult actor who plays the Avian in Wednesday season 2, part 1 says they filmed the shock reveal on their very first day on set – but that it made perfect and total sense.
Warning: Massive spoilers for Wednesday season 2 part 1 ahead!
"It tracked and it made sense," Heather Matarazzo told Netflix's Tudum. "I had to understand her motivations very quickly. [Alfred Gough and Miles Millar] were very generous in answering my questions within the space of what motivates a character to do something. What is it that she had within herself? What was the drive of that ambition?"
In Wednesday season 2, part 1, a hooded figure who can control birds is killing everyone in sight. Wednesday initially suspects Isadora Capri (Billie Piper), the new music teacher, before becoming almost certain that it must be Dr. Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton), the resident psychologist at Willow Hill. In episode 4, however, we learn that the Avian is none other than Judi (Heather Matarazzo), Dr. Fairburn's chipper assistant and the daughter of Augustus Stonehearst, a madman who had been experimenting on Outcasts for decades.
Matarazzo is perhaps best known for playing Mia's less-than-supportive best friend Lilly in The Princess Diaries, but she also starred in Todd Solondz's cult classic dark comedy Welcome to the Dollhouse, Hostel 2, Scream 3, and The Devil's Advocate.
Wednesday season 2, 1 part 1 is out now. Part 2 arrives on September 3, which is, of course, a Wednesday. For more, check out our Wednesday season 2 part 1 review.
