Will You Be At Melksham Comic Con Next Month?

Melksham’s third local comic con looks set to be bigger than ever

August is going to be a busy time for con-goers with some big events in the capital, but if you're out Wiltshire way one increasingly popular destination is the annual Melksham comic event. The town will once again be taken over by comic and sci-fi fans on the last weekend in August, as it plays host to its biggest ever convention. After enjoying two hugely successful one-day events, this year’s convention is expanding to fill the whole weekend, as well as occupying a second venue just across the road from the Assembly Hall.

The larger space means that as well as the usual selection of guests (which this year includes Andrew Wildman, Ian Churchill, Andy Lanning and Death Sentence creative team MontyNero and Mike Dowling), there will more panels than in previous years. With sessions looking at such varied subjects as writing for comics, the relationship between comic books and TV, and comics and mental health, there’s something for everyone who loves the medium.

For those who like to take a more active role, there are art competitions for both children and adults and a cosplay competition, while those with money to spend will find an impressive selection of small press publishers, artists and dealers with a huge variety of comics, prints and merchandise for sale.

Melksham Comic Con has been described as "one of the greatest conventions in the country" (Nich Angell, creator of 7String) and "the absolute highlight of my convention year" (Jon Lock, creator of Afterlife Inc.) and this year’s event promises to be better than ever.
