• UK-based Marvel fans will be smug to learn that Avengers: Age of Ultron has a new earlier UK release date . The new opening night, 24 April 2015, means that the film will open a week before its US release on 1 May. Marvel announced the news on its UK Twitter account, using the hashtag #ONEYEAR – a reminder that there’s less than a year to go until the sequel to the biggest movie ever (if you forget about films made by James Cameron).
• There’s casting news from Zack Snyder’s as-yet-untitled Batman Vs Superman movie , where Variety has confirmed that Ray Fisher is playing Cyborg . Apparently Cyborg will have a minor role in the film, which is looking more like a stealth Justice League movie every day...
• Not only is Michael Bay planning another reboot of the Friday The 13 th franchise , but there will also be a TV series . Total Film reports that Bill Basso and Jordu Schell are writing a script that should see the series being aired in one-hour weekly instalments. It is rumoured that the series will stretch over a long timeline, with the possibility of the history of the Voorhees family being explored.
• Danger lurks in the catacombs beneath Paris, in the first trailer for As Above, So Below, due in UK cinemas on 15 August.
• The first trailer for [ REC] 4: Apocalypse has been released. The Spanish film continues directly after the second movie and it is reportedly the last in the series.
• Michael Bay-produced TV series The Last Ship has a new extended trailer. The series follows the Navy destroyer USS Nathan James , which avoids falling victim to the disease that is devastating Earth. Now Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of a new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors. The show comes to US screens on TNT on 22 June.
