BLOG Think Tank COMIC REVIEW

Alasdair Stuart checks out a comic that’s like Iron Man meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest

Think Iron Man without the armour but at least as much snark. Think about One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest with a genius weapons designer instead of Jack Nicholson. It’s brilliant fun, and the original four issue run has been extended to at least 20. Now, co-creator Matt Hawkins has written an open letter on behalf of himself and Rahsan Ekedal, fellow creator and artist, about the book. Here’s an excerpt:

“I’ve been very straight up with everyone about this book, we’ll keep doing it if it finds a large enough audience to sustain it. We’ve committed through issue 20 at this point, which is 16 more than I thought we’d get to, but we’d both like to do the book for a long, long time.

“Why am I writing this now? Because this week the second trade paperback of Think Tank is in stores along with the second printing of the first one. I’m not too proud to ask for your help.”

If you like it, and I think you will, it’s one of the best books Image put out, then you’ll want to get caught up. If your store doesn’t have the first two trade paperback collections in stock, just give them these codes and they’ll order them for you:

Volume 1: OCT120494
Volume 2: APR130479

Both books are £10.99 and great fun, especially if you like brilliant, frustrated geniuses pushing back against The Man, elaborately creative technological death machines and humour. And hey, who doesn’t? So check out the first issue and then, if you like it, pick up the trades. This think tank has plenty of mileage in it yet.
