If you want to get infected by an alien parasite and talk to Sunny then you've reached that part of the Fortnite Week 5 quests. There are two parts to this Fortnite alien parasite challenge - finding an alien parasite in Fortnite and then finding Sunny to show off your new look/alien overlord. Fortunately, we can help you with both in Fortnite. So get ready to hunt some animals, lose some HP and enter into a new life of alien hybrid harmony.
Where to find Fortnite alien parasites
Fortnite parasites are currently stuck on the heads of animals roaming around the map. So to find one be on the look out for Fortnite wolves, Fortnite boars and Fortnite chickens. Those links will take you to maps where you can find each of the creatures, if you're having trouble locating one.
Just listen out for animal noises and, when you find some, you'll need to kill the host animal to release the parasite, which should then attach to you. Be careful to not to hit the parasite as you can kill them - freeing the animal and getting you nothing.
You can also find Alien Parasites being guarded by the NPCs Fortnite Zyg and Choppy inside Hydro 16 here:
Look for the green blobs - get near enough or attack one and a parasite will pop out. Just be prepared for Zyg and Choppy to have an issue with you if you try this approach. And by 'issue' I mean blast you with a mythic ray gun.
Where to talk to Sunny in Fortnite
Sunny is one of the many Fortnite characters you'll find around the map, ready to chat and sell you useful loot in exchange for gold bars. Sunny can be found on Believer Beach, just east of the Pier, patrolling the strange circular markings in the sand. Here, in fact:
Once you've found a Fortnite alien parasite and got yourself infected, head over to Believer Beach and say hi to Sunny to complete the quest. The trade off of losing health against increased movement speed and jumping should at least make it easier to reach Sunny fast. And, when it's done and you've said hello, you can either keep your new space buddy or read on to see how you can get rid of it.
How to get a Fortnite parasite off your head
Once a Fortnite parasite is stuck on your head you have a few options for getting it off - jumping into water is probably the easiest option, while you can also get into anything you can interact with, like a dumpster or Porta-Potties. Less favorable options but usable in a pinch are to set yourself on fire or take enough damage that the parasite jumps off. Obviously those last two are desperate measures, so maybe just find some water.
What do Fortnite alien parasites do?
First the bad news: a Fortnite alien parasite will drain your health to 60 straight away. It will leave your shields alone at least, but if you want one you'll have to take the hit on the health. In return, however, you'll get protection from headshot damage, as well as the ability to run faster and jump higher. So it's up to you if you want to chance it. That health suck might seem like a dangerous price to pay but you'd be surprised how many people will effectively waste their efforts shooting your protected head, giving you more time to deal with them.
