Fortnite wolf spawns and how to tame them

Fortnite wolf spawns are the starting points for these aggressive creatures, though they tend to prowl beyond those areas once a match gets underway. Although they'll attack you if you get too close, you can also ride wolves in Fortnite by leaping on their backs, instantly taming them in the process and making them your personal pet. Whether you need to tame wolves in a single match for one of the Fortnite quests, or you're looking for a different mode of transport to get around quickly, it pays to know the best places to be looking for them. With that in mind, here's what the current situation is with Fortnite wolves and where they're most likely to spawn.

What makes riding Fortnite wolves so special is that, unlike regular vehicles, they don't run out of fuel, which means you can travel with them over great distances in Fortnite without ever having to stop for gas – though they will eventually run out of stamina and require feeding to regain energy. However, they are a lot less durable than vehicles too, so if an opponent opens fire on them you could soon lose your mount. If you want to know where the Fortnite wolf spawn locations are or how to jump on them, we've got all of the information you need.

Fortnite wolf spawns and wolves locations

As a general rule you'll find Fortnite wolves around wooded areas and anywhere that feels outdoorsy, so we've had success encountering them here:

  • Breakwater Bay
  • The Citadel
  • Frenzy Fields
  • Shattered Slabs

However, their starting positions are largely random and there's always a chance that other players could have got to them first or they've wandered away from the more obvious spots. So, have a look around these areas where Fortnite wolf spawns usually occur, but keep an eye (and ear) out for them in any other grassy or wooded locations you happen to pass through.

Thankfully they're no longer the ferocious beasts they once were, so taming Fortnite wolves so you can ride them is a relatively simple task – simply jump on their backs and you'll automatically tame them then tag along for the ride. It's possible to distract the wolf first by throwing meat or other food to it, but this isn't necessary as long as you jump squarely onto their back. While riding a wolf in Fortnite you can click the left stick to charge, jump in the usual way, and dismount by either holding the appropriate button or double jumping. Once you dismount the animal it will continue to follow you around, so you don't need to worry about it running away while you hop off to do other tasks.
