According to Twitch Film , 20th Century Fox has chosen Espinosa to take charge of the big-screen version of Assassin’s Creed , with Michael Fassbender attached to star in and produce the film.
Hollywood first took notice of Espinosa after his 2010 Swedish action thriller Snabba Cash (released as Easy Money in the UK last year), which launched the career of new RoboCop Joel Kinnaman.
He has recently directed the soon-to-be-released Child 44 , and has been attached to Liam Neeson’s Gang Story and an adaptation of John Grisham’s The Racketeer.
For those that haven’t played the (awesome) game, Assassin’s Creed tells the story of a present-day man who has descended from a long line of assassins and who uses a machine to relive the memories of his ancestor Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad, who fought in the Third Crusade.
The assassins in the game series are all highly skilled, incorporating elements of parkour as they carry out their planned kills.
Which means that Fassbender needs to be putting in some serious training ahead of the film’s 6 August 2015 release date.
