American McGee teases new game from Spicy Horse

In a not-so-cryptic Facebook posting today, American McGee shared a piece of concept art that was labelled, "Jack and the Beanstalk" with the following message, "What's that you say? You'd like to see more crazy fairy tale adaptations from Spicy Horse? Hmmm... what's this? Oh, I dunno... perhaps concept art from an as-yet-unannounced game we have in development. Intriguing!"

American McGee's Shanghai-based studio Spicy Horse most recently partnered with EA to release Alice: Madness Returns, the sequel to the cult hit American McGee's Alice, that was set in an alternate universe of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The PC action game released in 2000 went on to sell more than 1.5 million copies, prompting the sequel which was released last year.

Jack and the Beanstalk is no stranger to the video game realm, as Spicy Horse has already incorporated the popular tale into its episode series based on Grimm's fairy tales titled, American McGee's Grimm. The next project looks to take on a more kid-friendly whimsical approach, although fans of McGee's work will likely want to see a more twisted, darker version of Jack and his magical beans.

Which fairy tale would you want to see adapted by Spicy Horse?

Update: American McGee has confirmed that the new game is tentatively called "Crazy Fairies," and is set to launch later this year on social and online platforms. Gameplay will be similar to Worms where you control a platoon of earthworms on a destructible landscape..
