The Marathon server slam is now over, meaning the only way to play the game is to buy the full version when it launches. The open beta weekend's purpose was mainly to stress test the servers ahead of launch day, but it also allowed Bungie to collect valuable feedback from players trying Marathon for free. By participating in the server slam, you could also unlock several rewards for the full game, so here's a rundown of all the Marathon server slam rewards up for grabs.
The Marathon Server Slam event has now ended, which means the Marathon release time for the full game is coming up very soon. Check out the linked guide for full details and make sure you know how to preload Marathon too.
Marathon server slam rewards
Depending on how much you play during the Marathon server slam, you'll be given various reward packs for the full game, which will be ready and waiting on launch day. Be aware that progress made during the server slam does not carry over to the full game, so these rewards serve as a head start for the full release instead. Here's what you can get:
- Complete the introductory mission: An emblem and player background to show your participation in the server slam.
- Complete one mission to unlock the Standard Arrival Cache: Includes six Standard Implants, four Standard Marathon Cores, six Standard Weapon Chip Mods, and the Overrun and Hardline weapons.
- Reach Runner Level 10 to unlock the Enhanced Arrival Cache: Includes six Enhanced Implants, two Enhanced Runner Shell Cores for each Shell, four Enhanced Weapon Chip Mods, and an Enhanced Magnum and Enhanced Hardline.
- Reach Runner Level 30 to unlock the Deluxe Arrival Cache: Includes three Deluxe and three Enhanced Implants, one Deluxe and one Enhanced Runner Shell Cores for each Shell, two Deluxe and two Enhanced Weapon Chip Mods, and a Deluxe Magnum, an Enhanced Volley Rifle, and a Deluxe Backpack.
There are also Marathon Twitch Drops to unlock during the server slam, so even if you can't play during the open weekend preview, you can at least earn some rewards if you're able to watch some Twitch streams. You'll be earning Marathon Silk as you play, but just be aware that it's functionally useless in the server slam!
When does the Marathon server slam end?
The Marathon server ended on March 2 at 6PM UTC, which works out as the following in various regions:
- US Pacific: March 2 at 10AM PST
- US Eastern: March 2 at 1PM EST
- UK: March 2 at 6PM GMT
- Central Europe: March 2 at 7PM CET
- Australia: March 3 at 5AM AEDT
- New Zealand: March 3 at 7AM NZDT
Marathon server slam content
In terms of what you can play during the Marathon server slam event, it's an expanded offering compared to the April 2025 closed alpha test, representing a big chunk of the full game. You'll get to experience the basic extraction shooter loop, teaming up with fellow Runners to gather loot and Marathon weapons, battle or avoid the UESC and other players, then escape with your winnings – or die trying. Specifically, you'll have access to the following during the open beta:
- Two Marathon maps: Perimeter and Dire Marsh are the only two maps available in the server slam, but the full game will also feature Outpost and then the endgame Cryo Archive zone later in Season 1.
- Six Marathon Runner Shells: Destroyer, Assassin, Recon, Vandal, Triage, and Rook are available. Thief will not be available during the server slam but will be present with Marathon's full launch.
- Five Marathon factions: During the Marathon server slam, you'll be able to complete contracts for CyberAcme, NuCaloric, Traxus, MIDA, and Arachne, letting you progress through the respective skill trees for each faction. The full release of Marathon will also include Sekiguchi Genetics as the sixth faction, as well as the full contracts and upgrades systems for each faction.
- Cross-play and cross-save: The Marathon beta features full cross-play between all platforms and cross-save if you have your platform accounts linked to your central Bungie ID. That means you should be able to switch freely switch between platforms to play Marathon, exactly as with Destiny 2.
