When does the Modern Warfare 4 beta start and how to access it
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 beta starts with Early Access on August 21, followed by an Open Beta on August 28
The Modern Warfare 4 beta dates have been announced, so we now know when we can get hands-on with the latest shooter instalment. As always, there will be an initial Early Access period for players who have pre-ordered the game, followed by an Open Beta where everyone can check out Modern Warfare 4 ahead of its October release without having to commit to a purchase.
Following a recent blog post we have some early intel on the MW4 beta, including the dates when it will be running and the requirements to join it, though exact times haven't been confirmed yet. If you're keen to get involved, then here's everything we know so far about the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 beta and how to access it.
When are the Modern Warfare 4 beta dates?
The Modern Warfare 4 beta dates are divided between two sessions as follows:
- Early Access
- Start: Friday, August 21
- End: Tuesday, August 25
- Open Beta
- Start: Friday, August 28
- End: Tuesday, September 1
Above are the dates for the Modern Warfare 4 beta, and although we don't have exact times as yet we do know that the Early Access beta starts immediately after the Call of Duty: NEXT broadcast on August 21.
To access the initial Early Access period on PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC you need to pre-order Modern Warfare 4 in either Standard or Vault Edition format, though if you reserve the Vault Edition you'll receive additional perks during the beta – more on that below. The exception to this is Nintendo Switch 2, where pre-orders don't open until August 28, but at that point Switch 2 players can join everyone else in the Open Beta period where no pre-order is required to take part.

Players who pre-order the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 4 will get access to additional content during the beta, including:

When will the Modern Warfare 4 beta end?
The Modern Warfare 4 beta is officially scheduled to end on Tuesday, September 1, when the Open Beta draws to a close. The previous Black Ops 7 beta did get extended by an extra day though, so this end point isn't set in stone yet depending on how the rest of the MW4 beta period goes.
