Crash Bandicoot: On the Run, a new endless runner-style game for Android and iOS devices, has been officially announced by Candy Crush developer King.
On the Run will be free-to-play when it launches sometime "soon," King says. Conceptually, it's not all that different from mainline Crash games in that it challenges you to clear platforming challenges while constantly advancing forward. Of course, the endless runner style affects the structure of levels, and On the Run adds in several other features as well, "including meaningful social, crafting, and base-building [elements]." Many bosses, levels, characters, and items from the main Crash games are also used in On the Run.
"Dr. Neo Cortex has dispatched iconic villains across the multiverse to take control of all dimensions," the official description reads. "With the help of his sister Coco, Crash must bash Cortex's minions back to their own dimensions! Use Crash's unstoppable energy and let the fur fly as you run, spin and slide your way to stop the dastardly Dr. Neo Cortex from destroying all worlds."
Article continues belowThe game's reveal trailer is mostly cinematics, but there are a few precious seconds of gameplay at the end. And yep, it looks like an endless runner. Levels have multiple paths, items to collect and use, and bosses awaiting a quick bashing.

In case you haven't heard, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time was also just announced. It's coming to PS4 and Xbox One this October.
