Hugh Jackman and James Mangold sizing up a Wolverine sequel

Hugh Jackman might be approaching his seventh big-screen outing (counting that cameo) as Wolverine in X-Men: Days Of Future Past , but it looks as though he won't be hanging his claws up for a while to come.

That's because Deadline is reporting that Fox has opened talks with James Mangold over a potential sequel to The Wolverine , with Jackman set to star in the title role once more.

Having performed very strongly outside of the US, the first film has brought in $413 million worldwide, making it the second highest grossing X-film of all time.

Mangold is currently thrashing out a deal with studio execs, and will write a first treatment, while long-term franchise caretaker Lauren Shuler Donner will come on board to produce.

We're all for another go-around with Wolvie, although hopefully the arrival of a sequel won't be quite such a tortuous process as the one involved in bringing the first film to the big screen...
