Chiwetel Ejiofor in early talks to join Doctor Strange

With Benedict Cumberbatch now locked in as the titular sorcerer in Marvel's Doctor Strange movie, the studio is looking to fill the rest of the film's cast, and it's looking like Chiwetel Ejiofor could be next to join.

According to THR, Ejiofor is in early talks for an unspecified role, with conflicting reports suggesting that he could play the film's main villain.

Other possible roles include Doctor Strange's mentor (and powerful mystic) The Ancient One, and Wong, Strange's monk servant.

If Ejiofor signs on, it would be the first time he's appeared in a comic-book movie. He's no stranger to genre fare, though, having memorably appeared as the villain in Joss Whedon's Serenity.

Shooting on Doctor Strange will kick off once Captain America: Civil War has wrapped, with director Scott Derrickson calling the shots.

Doctor Strange opens on 4 November 2016.
