Welcome to Pokemon Monday, GamesRadar's podcast 100% devoted to all things Pokemon. Step into the bizarre hivemind of several adult Pokemon fantatics each Monday as we bring you a no-frills, raw and unedited passionate Pokemon discussion covering breaking news, events, and whatever else is on our singularly devoted Pokemon brains. No Pokemon-related topic is off limits.

Episode 37 highlights

Happy White Day! White Day is a Japanese holiday celebrated on March 14th that's an extension of Valentine's Day.

Our weekly Black & White discussion - Henry's working on post-game quests, and admits to wasting his Master Ball on a non-legendary. Lucky for him, you can obtain two Master Balls in B&W (see our handy item location guide for details). Also, we make a correction about obtaining Zorua and Zoroark pre-National 'dex.

Your launch stories - No parties for serious Pokemon trainers, apparently. It sounds like everyone got the game and quietly got to business adventuring through Unova.

Satoshi Tajiri is alive and well - A terrible rumor circulated on Twitter that Pokemon creator Satoshi Tajiri had died in the recent earthquake/tsunami disaster in Japan. He is alive and unharmed.

Pokemon of the week: Haxorus - Henry presents his case for this pure Dragon-type.

Question of the week: How important is it to you to catch every Pokemon?

See you next week!

I caught every pokemon is gen 4. I mean everything. Except one. Arceus. Which has never been distributed legally. I like to complete the local dex. But no more am I doing national. With no Arceus, there is a gap in Gen 5 onward. Plus there are over 500 now. Too much time to transfer to newer versions. My Diamond Cart is too full with my teams. With all the new boxes, there still isnt enough room! Thanks for the guides. But I like to buy the official Pokemon Guides. Make sure I get everything. Taking and beating preschoolers for money. I found that so funny. Trainer nature is for nothing. Just an add on. I bought One of the two Limited Black Pokemon DS's. I like the Black DS Better but my main game is white. Now i have 2 Black and 1 white version.

Hey Carolyn I actually got the White Day reference. I love Japanese culture and I have a question about a trade/imfo. I wanna catch a Pawniard but I really don't want to bust out my big Pokemon because they are really overpowered. I know it sounds lazy but I just wanna get a weak one for training and I've been far too busy to play lately. Any help please?
  • SumthingStupid - March 17, 2011 11:28 p.m.

well the reason i could take off school was because my strict dad was away on business in montreal, and my acting skills are oscars winning, plus i hate pygmalion in english so it was a good day to fake and for the questions i love to collect my pokemon, and i wish you could use your pc from the menu
  • killerhi5 - March 17, 2011 4:55 p.m.

i catch every pokemon at the end of the game... i started in ruby but its now important.... if i were a sprite in game i would be pokemon collecter justin lolol
  • jmeich98 - March 17, 2011 12:37 a.m.

The pokemon that I like to get are the ones that look cool, like haxorus and beartic. I also have some pokemon to trade to you Carolyn like my shiny feebas that I found!, and more!
  • KrEid - March 16, 2011 9:23 p.m.

It's pretty important catching them all, I have all of my PC set out in numerical order and I'm spending bloody hours on Black now evolving everyone! As for Pokemon of the week, I actually got Haxorus this morning :D
  • Kicko333 - March 16, 2011 7:19 p.m.

YAY! You mentioned me, thanks much! I bragged to my girlfriend lol. You guys do got it made though.... Anyway, I try to catch them all, if I'm not mistaken that's the game/animes catch phrase so I feel everyone should try to. With that said, I dont have any form of Deoxys, Shaymin, Darkrai or Mew. I'd love to get them one day but I missed the events so I know I'm pretty much screwed. I love the podcast so keep it up. You guys do a great job. For the guy talking about older people playing pokemon. I'm 25, you have to be in your 20s or late teens at least to really know how to play pokemon.
  • Averagegamer18 - March 16, 2011 12:32 a.m.

Caught a legit shiny axew in Adamant nature this morning at 1 am :) yeah I was pretty happy
  • ThatFanInThePeacoat - March 15, 2011 10:44 p.m.

It's fairly important for me to do it. I've been Pavlovian Conditioned to experience ecstasy when I make a new addition to the pokedex due to binge-playing Pokemon since I was six years old.
  • Moondoggie1157 - March 15, 2011 10:02 p.m.

"Catch 'em all, let Oak sort them out"
  • themaster465 - March 15, 2011 9:23 p.m.

I stopped playing pokemon after gold and silver came out then two years ago i bought platinum beat the game in a short amount of time so i decided to catch them all and i did by november with no hacking. now with the new ones out i'm going to catch them all again
  • zzzonked - March 15, 2011 8:36 p.m.

i'm aiming to make white my first game to have a complete dex. i bought the game as something cheap to play on my 3DS but in my excitement i bought it too early so i'm trying to stick to this game. Plus i cant really get into EV training
  • rpadTVbsuKenyan5000 - March 15, 2011 4:16 p.m.

I am trying to make Pokemon Black my first cartridge with a complete Pokedex. I still don't like the limited amount of space for the PC boxes though, that is very frustrating for collecting and for IV breeding. In HG I consistently have 5-6 boxes filled with chuffa pokemon that I will be checking for IV/natures or for junk trades at some point. I feel like I need so much more space than they are providing. Also, I don't know how you all go through your games so quickly. I know I move slower, but at under 50 hours I was nowhere near beating the elite four and finding all of the sages, etc.
  • philipshaw - March 15, 2011 3:33 p.m.

It depends on the amount of time I have, if it's the summer and I'm doing nothing I will try catch them all. But like Henry said if other games are out, I will play those ahead of trying to catch every Pokémon
  • SnorlaxPWNS - March 15, 2011 1:50 p.m.

  • SteampunkJim - March 15, 2011 1:17 p.m.

Catching them all in b&w has been really important, just because it's more manageable. After this, I may shoot for the stars and start collecting the older generations.
  • bunzelbiscit - March 15, 2011 4:54 a.m.

The elite 4 the 2nd time around ain't really that bad I did it with the party in my picture and my Archeops is my highest (69). Granted his is quite OP.=O
  • yoshi1001 - March 15, 2011 3:43 a.m.

I think the guide books appeal more to younger kids who don't have access to the internet 24/7 and want a reference on-hand. I don't think I've ever really made an effort to catch them all, other than maybe in the original Red version. However, I do try to catch quite a few on each new generaton, at least for the first game, partially so I can figure out as many type combinations as possible on my own. If I ever just happen to get a new Pokemon down to low health, I do try to capture it. By the way, has anyone noticed the artist trainer looks a lot like Jamie Hyneman from MythBusters?
  • jpbr139 - March 15, 2011 3:37 a.m.

Yeah!!! I wait every week for this. I love catching pokemon but it's kind of imposible for me to catch all of them, mostly because of the event only pokemon, like Celebi, in my country we didn't get that event, I just get the wi-fi event pokemon...
  • alexlam - March 15, 2011 3:34 a.m.

Has anyone picked up the guide book yet? I want to get one not sure which one to get. I sort of want the Pokedex one. The collector edition looks pretty cool too... I need something that also includes egg moves.
