Guardians of the Galaxy's James Gunn reveals which DC movies he'd make if he could

Guardians of the Galaxy struck a tone with audiences back in 2014, so much so that we're getting a sequel next year. The man behind both Marvel movies is James Gunn, but in a recent Facebook Q&A the director revealed that he's also been offered the chance to direct DC movies too:

"I’ve had opportunities to make DC films, but I haven’t said yes to anything, and not sure I would at this time. I’ve talked before about which projects appeal to me the most IF I was into making one, and it’s always Shazam and Metal Men and Swamp Thing and [Jonah] Hex and a few other DC IPs I’ve enjoyed for a great deal of my life".

While a Shazam! movie starring Dwayne Johnson is in the works over at Warner Bros., the ship has probably sailed when it comes to Gunn directing a DC movie. Not only is the director clearly happy at Marvel, but all the characters he's interested in are B-list at best. WB is having a hard enough time as it is with their A-team, so it'll be a few years yet until they can even begin to consider a solo outing for Swamp Thing.

Stranger things have happened though, like a comic book movie featuring a sentient tree and a talking raccoon actually turning out to be pretty great...

Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Kurt Russell, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theatres on May 5, 2017.
