Download of the Week - Steam has an incredi-sale for the Christmas period

Platform: PC/Mac | Publisher: Various | Developer: Various | Prices: Various

All our downloads are piped in with the lightning-quick Virgin Media 50Mb Broadband...

So the greatest gift this festive season is being delivered on Steam. They've gathered together the world's leading publishers and slashed their retail prices from now until January 2nd 2012.

From individual game deals like Batman Arkham City being reduced to £19.99 to package deals from 2K games, which demands £39.99 for 49 items including Borderlands, all the DLC for it and both Bioshocks.

There are new deals everyday until January 2nd, so be sure to keep an eye on the Steam Store. It's probably worth buying a new gaming rig in the new year for this amount of goodness.

IMO the sale has been pretty weak so far.

+1 to this The only thing I bothered getting was Metro 2033 and Mass Effect 2. I usually get quite a lot more than 2 games. I'm looking at Just Cause 2 now, all the other crap is just Indie games, titles no one cares about, really old games that are pretty much dead, or games that many people already own. Also, it seems like the same games are being reused in the sale, just different prices.

Even though it hasn't been some kind of earth-shattering, world-changing sale, yes, I agree, I've still gotten plenty of games out of it. Brink, LIMBO, Mass Effect 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. Also, I couldn't buy anything during the first two days because of credit card-related problems, but it had some games during that time that I would've gladly bought. Though I only remember Metro 2033 and...what else was there... Well, there were, like, 3 or 4 other games. But yeah, I guess it could be better. Since it doesn't really cost them anything, they'd make a whole lot more money if they took some new game, slap a -90% discount on it, and watch their sales skyrocket. I mean, they'd get more money out of the myriad of potential buyers who'd buy it at that price, than the more humble quantity of buyers who buy it at those -50% discounts some of these games see (like Arkham City and Saints Row: The Third. Had those had, like, -80% or, even better, -90% discounts, I would've bought them instantly, and Steam would've still had that potential money I would've given them that they don't have right now).

1 more hour to go until they update their daily sales.....the tension is killing me!
