E3 is less than a week away - let that sink in for a moment. Starting in only a few days we'll be literally overwhelmed with new trailers, screenshots, and announcements. Instead of just choosing the few games we're looking forward to, we decided to go big - picking our 50 most anticipated games from E3. And then we tried to cut the list down, and, well, we couldn't decide on just 50, so we threw one more on, too.

Without further ado, here are the 51 biggest games we hope to see at E3...

We loved the first Borderlands when it launched a few years back, but there’s no denying that it had some issues. After getting some hands-on time with Borderlands 2 we were completely convinced that Gearbox has patched up the holes for the sequel, which is due out later this year.

Every time we see the game we’re blown away the new additions. The classes all look more fleshed-out than they were in the original, and the large, grotesque enemies were a blast to blow apart. We’re hoping to get a chance to go hands-on with some of the other elements of the game at E3, maybe even checking out the vehicular combat, which we’ve heard good things about, but haven’t actually seen for ourselves.

We’re still not sure if Trion’s Defiance is going to work. The MMOFPS is going to attempt to synchronize with a Syfy TV series (in the vein of the popular Warehouse 13, not the terrible made-for-TV movies) in hopes of creating a truly cohesive experience across two mediums. That means anything that happens on the show will happen in an update in the game. Crazy, right? But Trion has always made the crazy work, releasing a World of Warcraft competitor that actually managed to steal a few million people, so we’re not going to write this game off just because it sounds impossible.

From what we’ve seen in past trailers for Defiance, the gameplay appears to take some of the ideas that made Rift work (see: dynamic content) and mix them in with sci-fi vibe that reminds us, a little bit, of a Halo/Firefly hybrid. Will that actually end up being the case? We don’t know, but we hope we find out at E3.

Ninja Theory’s reboot/reimagining/re of the Devil May Cry series might be driving some fans of the series crazy, but after seeing the game on several occasions we’ve walked away more than a little impressed. In fact, we have a feeling that the new DmC could be just what the series needed to stay relevant (as we explained in a recent article about why DmC might actually be amazing.

We’d love to see more of the story at E3, as well as get more insight into how this DmC universe differs from the universe where the beloved white-haired Dante lives. Are there any actual connections? Will Andy Serkis play a character in the game? There is so much we don’t know, and with DmC’s recent delay we’d love some new info to hold us over.

This is going to sound crazy, but we love DUST 514 despite it not being very fun. When we went hands-on with the title at CCP’s Fan Fest we were blown away by every element of the game that didn’t involve actually playing it – the integration with EVE Online, the F2P system, the core ideas – they’re all amazing. We even wrote an article explaining all of the things that makes DUST 514 worth paying attention to. But once we got a controller in our hand we were introduced to a bland world full of uninteresting weapons, unappealing vehicles, and absolutely dull gameplay.

And yet, despite all of that we’re still interested. CCP knows that we – and many others – were unimpressed with the gameplay, and we’re really hoping that the developer has listened to the criticism and made it… more fun. If CCP has turned things around we’re confident that the game might be worth paying attention to for any PS3 owner. If it hasn’t? Well, we’re already giving it a second shot at a first impression, and we’re not sure we’re going to give it a third.

Honestly, we’re not even 100% sure we’re going to see this game at E3, but Rockstar has shown off its games at press conferences before, so it’s totally not unrealistic to think we might finally get a new trailer for GTA V. We hope we do, too, because despite being one of our most anticipated games of the year, we know very little about it.

Besides doing some speculative research based on the GTA V trailer, we know very little about the game besides the location (San Andreas) and the protagonist (just kidding, we don’t know anything about him), leaving plenty to be revealed at E3.

Agent 47 has been out of commission for too long. The silent assassin’s last few games have been good, but made little effort to break away from the pre-established formula in any meaningful way. Hitman: Absolution, on the other hand, goes back to the drawing board on several elements of the game, bringing it more in-line with current-generation standards. And by “more in line” we mean “sort of ripping off Splinter Cell: Conviction,” but we’re actually totally alright with that.

We’re really looking forward to getting more hand-on time with the game at E3, especially since so far we haven’t been too impressed with what we’ve seen. We’ve liked it, that’s for sure, and we absolutely loved the pre-order bonus Sniper Challenge, but it feels like we need more time with it before we’re able to completely form an opinion on the assassin’s latest journey.

We know literally nothing about Pikmin 3. Nothing. Nintendo mentioned it at E3, and recently hinted that we’d see it this year, but beyond that we’re running on pure speculation. AND THAT’S WHY WE’RE SO EXCITED. Pikmin’s focus on strategy makes it a perfect game to show off the benefits of the Wii U’s tablet controller, allowing us to tape and slide little plant monsters around the battlefield easier than ever before.

It’s also a great example of a game that could benefit from having a majority of the HUD removed from the main screen and placed on the bottom one. Things like the sun timer and the Pikmin count could be taken away to free up screen real estate so that we’re able to see Pikmin for the Wii U in all of its HD glory.

Every open-world has an Achilles heel. Grand Theft Auto IV had weak driving, Just Cause 2’s shooting was all over the place, and no open-world games really have strong melee unless it’s the main focus. Sleeping Dogs defies this tradition, featuring awesomely arcadey driving, stellar melee, and shooting that looks like it can go toe-to-toe with many other pure third-person shooters on the market. Every time we’ve played it we’ve been amazed by how strong the individual mechanics were, and each demo we’ve played has had us more excited for the game - we even wrote a glowing Sleeping Dogs preview discussing how each mechanic worked.

So what’s left to see at E3? Likely nothing, but we don’t care – we seriously just want to play it some more. Jumping between cars in our latest demo was just plain fun, and getting more hands-on time with Sleeping Dogs might not be all that informative, but it’ll be fun, and that’s all that matters.

Spec Ops: The Line isn’t like other shooters. It doesn’t approach the genre with in a “gung-ho G.I. Joe” attitude, nor does it try to make war very fun. Instead, Spec Ops is attempting to shock jaded, desensitized gamers with an Apocalypse Now-style story and a vibe that, so far, hasn’t really permeated gaming.

We’ve already seen the singleplayer on a few occasions and even had a chance to check out Spec Ops’ multiplayer, so we’re hoping to get a look at something a little later in the game at E3. Then again, with a story-based shooter like Spec Ops, maybe it’ll be better to keep our distance from any spoilers.

We feel silly. We all assumed that Rayman: Origins would be a flop because it was a really good 2D platformer that launched at a stupidly competitive time of the year. In fact, we wrote a bunch of articles making fun of people for not playing or buying it, assuming that it would meet the same fate as games like Okami. Apparently we were wrong, and it looks like Rayman’s 2D adventures will be returning in the near future.

A leaked Rayman Legends trailer shows off a new art style, some interesting gameplay quirks, and the ability to place objects on the Wii U controller to make them spawn in the game. We don’t know how much of that was real and how much was concept, but we’re looking forward to finding out at E3.

We’re not going to lie – we’re not completely sold on Sony’s Smash Bros. clone. The roster is interesting, and the combat is fun, but the core mechanic of needing to activate “super moves” to defeat foes has us conflicted, as we explained in our PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale preview.

Still, curiosity is going to keep us coming back for more. We expect at least two to three big announcements in terms of new characters at E3, and being able to play as non-Nintendo mascots makes this worth paying attention to. Plus, there’s always a chance they’ll include a mode that doesn’t focus so completely on those super moves, so here’s hoping!

Wait, an iOS game on our list of the biggest and best games of E3? You’d better believe it. If you’re still ignoring the iPhone and iPad as gaming platforms you’re missing out – for every silly casual game there’s an awesome hardcore, mainstream title just waiting to be played, and it sounds like Infinity Blade: Dungeons might make its way to the top of our Best iPhone games list.

Early reports are that it finally takes the Infinity Blade concept and evolves it past the traditional swipe-based gameplay into a more fleshed-out experience. No longer are you limited to cutting through a gauntlet of enemies on your path to inevitable death. The “Dungeons” in the name is literal, and we’re excited to see for ourselves what that means when we try it out ourselves at E3.

We’ve already seen God of War: Ascension’s surprise multiplayer mode in action, and while we’re not entirely sure the series needed competitive online action, we’re willing to give it a shot. What’s more interesting to us, though, is the singleplayer, which we’re hoping is shown off at E3 this year.

The first trailer for Ascension hinted that the prequel would tell of a time where Kratos wasn’t a giant ball of emotion, and we’re definitely excited to see that in action. We also want to know exactly how far back the series is going to wander – are we going to see a pre-Blades of Chaos Kratos? Or is this going to take place right after he gets them? We’ll hopefully know next week.

Ever since Assassin’s Creed III's revolutionary new setting leaked in February, fans and press alike have been clamoring for details about this new American outing. Yes, Assassin’s Creed III is set during the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin and all, but it won’t be ditching the series’ continuity. The developers have promised that present-day Desmond will have his biggest role yet.

It may be the American Revolution, but that first Assassin’s Creed III gameplay trailer almost had us feeling bad for the British. Wearing bright red coats in a snow covered forest, they didn’t stand much of a chance against a stealthy foe stalking them from above. Misplaced feelings of pity aside, we’re hoping to do a little stalking of our own at E3 2012.

When we saw Tomb Raider at E3 2011, it blew us away. The game was dark and brutal, with the most human take on Lara Croft we’d ever seen. Now that it’s E3 time once again, is it too much to hope that Square Enix will let us take this triple AAA reboot for a spin with some hands-on play time? Here’s to hoping we’ll get the chance.

Our E3 2011 interview with Brian Horton got us even more excited for this gritty take on a vulnerable Lara Croft. Marooned on a deadly island after a harrowing shipwreck, this Lara is not some pithy action hero. Her dual pistols and sunglasses have been replaced with a bow and arrow and some tattered bandages. We can’t wait to get down and dirty with Lara’s desperate new struggle at E3.

Harmonix, you done done it again. Just when we thought fresh Western rhythm games were going the way of the dodo, Rock Band Blitz comes along and fuses one of the all-time best co-op games with our favorite singleplayer rhythm games (namely, Amplitude and Frequency). Putting each track in the hands of one ordinary-controller-wielding player, RBB looks like it’ll pack a musical wallop at a downloadable price. And oh yeah – we’ll be able to play our massive library of DLC songs in a whole new way.

Also: it has Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” as a playable track. If you can’t appreciate that for all its glory, please excuse yourself and take a serious look at your life and moral values.

Now that Diablo III has all its cards on the table, all eyes are on Torchlight II as the potential savior of the “click ‘til they’re dead” action RPG genre. After the awesomeness of the first game, we’re stoked to see what Runic Games can muster with a bigger budget and a lot more time. To think that it’ll retail for a third of Diablo’s asking price is just icing on the isometric cake.

We’re hoping to see more of the game’s class mechanics at E3; the best case scenario would be a full reveal of all the spells that the Beserker, Engineer, Outlander, and Embermage classes will wield. Runic might wait a little longer ‘til the D3 hype cools off, but we’re stoked to see more of Torchlight II.

The ridiculously-complex timeline of Sora and Riku’s adventures might be getting a tad convoluted by this point, but the Kingdom Hearts series has never failed to deliver in the gameplay or most-magical-place-on-Earth departments. Something of a revisiting of the first KH games mixed with new 3DS mechanics, DDD (or “Trips-D,” as no one calls it) is sure to bring out our inner Disney fans all over again.

The new worlds based on TRON: Legacy and The Hunchback of Notre Dame are looking dang nice, and we’re certain they’ll look even better on the crystalline 3DS screen. If you see footage of us singing Hikaru Utada’s “Sanctuary” while dreamily roaming the E3 showfloor, this game is the cause.

The ArmA series is revered amongst PC gamers for being so realistic, it’s borderline scary. What other military shooter boasts weapon ballistics, bullet drop, muzzle velocity, 20 kilometer view distance, and volumetric clouds that change with the weather? ArmA III has all of these things, on top of stunningly-lifelike visuals and authentic guns and vehicles.

One thing we’re most excited for at E3 is talking to the developer of the Day Z mod, a zombie nation ArmA II mod that’s taken the game’s community by storm. You best believe we’ll be picking his brain about his plans for A3’s robust modding tools and mission editor.

The sequel to our favorite Tekken game of all time is nearing its console release, and it looks to be the best non-Capcom tag team fighter yet. With the game’s September release date creeping ever closer, we’re willing to bet that we’ll have access to the majority of the 50-character roster and the crazy combos that come with it.

After reconnecting with our favorite Tekken faces in their recent bout with the Street Fighter crew, we’re psyched to see how these pugilists fight on their own turf. We’re looking to forge a team-up between the adorable android Alisa Bosconovitch with that haymaker-hurling boxer Steve Fox. And hey – maybe we’ll even catch a glimpse of some good old-fashioned Tekken Bowling…2.

If you’ve never played the original Darksiders, you should probably get on that ASAP. The sequel to the Joe Madieura-fueled “Zelda for grown-ups” takes the combo-centric combat of the first game and injects it with some loot-drop goodness for even more in-depth customization. Plus, Death is looking even more bad-ass than his horseman brother War – something we previously thought impossible.

Though we’ve already covered a sizeable chunk of the game, we cannot get enough of the grandiose boss fights; we’re hoping to get more hands-on slaying time with one the colossal baddies that guard each dungeon. Anything that brings Shadow of the Colossus to mind has got to be good.

This 3D fighting series might’ve been hibernating for the past seven years, but it’s finally back to take on the Tekkens and Virtua Fighters of the world. Judging from what we’ve seen of the game’s stage designs and bonus costumes, Team Ninja is going all-out on the craziness scale – and why shouldn’t they? We could use some more rowdy extravagance in our 3D fighters.

After getting a taste of the game with the Ninja Gaiden 3 Collector’s Edition demo, we’ve been itching to see more of the game’s roster at E3 – and that includes any and all Virtua Fighter cameos, a crossover which we approve of wholeheartedly.

Once the go-to playing god/mayoral simulator, the SimCity franchise has become somewhat splintered in the last decade. Console titles like SimCity Societies and SimCity Creator were slick, accessible games, but lacked the depth of past entries. A new SimCity game needs to feel fresh yet classic, a unified standard for this beloved series.

EA and Maxis understand that, which is why the upcoming SimCity is confirmed to be a reboot with a unique art style, all built around the brand new Glassbox engine. It’s also been confirmed that this SimCity will have cooperative and competitive multiplayer mode, but before you old school SimCity purists start raging, remember that this SimCity will be PC only. We can’t wait to get out hands on that mouse and keyboard at E3 this year!

Just as the name would suggest, details about Nintendo’s Wii U game Acid Ghost are downright ethereal, but from what we’ve heard, it sounds like one hell of a trip. Rumor has it that players will assume the role of a ghost haunting a cruise ship. It’ll be your task to haunt the AI passengers, driving them up the wall and possibly even overboard.

Will it be a horror game, or just a bunch of spooky pranks? We don’t know yet, but supposedly it’s an attempt to court a more mature audience for the new Wii U console. For E3 2012, Nintendo has hired Eminem to present Acid Ghost, via pre-recorded video. Luigi’s Mansion this ain’t!

Given the popularity of FPS multiplayer, it’s surprising that there isn’t a dominant online shooter with a persistent world, but Planetside 2 is looking to change all that. The original Planetside took a stab at the whole MMOFPS thing back in 2003, but the online landscape was very different in the time before World of Warcraft.

We already know a ton about the game. We know that it will have a day and night system and a backstory by comic writer Marv Wolfman, and we also know that Planetside 2 will be PC only. We're still interested in learning more, though, and we'll be sure to let you know what we find from our time with the game at E3.

Ever since Epic Mickey 2 was accidentally revealed by a Disney newsletter, we’ve had trouble containing our excitement.

When we heard Epic Mickey 2 was on the way, we started speculating about the Lost Disney Worlds we wanted to see in Epic Mickey 2, and getting excited to see what this iteration would do differently.

The sequel is promising drop-in, drop-out co-op and a revamped camera system, both of which should help make the game work better on a technical level. As our Epic Mickey 2 preview confirms, this second outing will be a true HD title, coming to Xbox 360 and PS3, not just the Wii. No matter what version is at E3 this year, this is one Mousecapade we can’t miss.

Heavily rumored for the last few months, we’re not sure if Dead Space 3 will actually appear at E3, but most signs point to definitely being there. EA has heavily implied that a new entry in the series will appear during its press conference, very specific rumors leaked out about drop-in/drop-out co-op and a frozen planet setting, and Visceral has been fairly quiet since Dead Space 2 in early 2011.

If the rumors are true (and it really, really looks like they are) we’re curious just how right our predictions were in Dead Space 3 - What we want from Visceral's Dead Space sequel. We're hoping they were all right. It was our wishlist, after all.

The Fire Emblem series has always been a bit niche outside of Japan, perhaps because the series never came to the US until the franchise stars appeared in Super Smash Bros Melee. Out in Japan, the new 3DS entry in the series has been met with high praise and big sales, though the game has yet to be officially announced in the US.

Given that the game is coming to the UK, E3 seems like the perfect time to reveal the game for the US and give the series another chance in English-speaking countries. The game will be especially if Nintendo wants to use its ample amounts of DLC to prove the publishers new commitment to online.

Famous for letting down people hoping for a new Mario game to accompany the GameCube at launch, Luigi’s Mansion became a bit of a cult favorite in the decade since. Thanks to developer Next Level (Punch-Out!! For Wii) the series is finally returning on Nintendo’s 3D handheld.

When we went hands-on with Luigi's Mansion 2 at E3 we were impressed how well it recreated the ghost busting gameplay of the original on the much smaller screen. We anticipate seeing new levels, features, characters and a whole lot of whimpering from Luigi when we see it again this year.

“Nintendo/Miyamoto confirm new Mario game for E3 reveal” was the news in mid-April, as Mario’s creator established what most already assumed: there will be a Mario game on Wii U. Every Nintendo system has had at least one core Mario game, though Wii was special in that it featured three.

But will we get a new 3D Mario that’s a true successor to the Galaxy games or will it be another 2D entry in the New Super Mario Bros franchise? Or something new altogether? Either way, we’re curious to see how it will embrace the Wii U’s specific talents. And most interesting of all, will this game be ready for the Wii U’s launch, making it the first original Mario to launch a home console since 1996?

After years of Nintendo ignoring the possibility of a brand new 2D adventure for Mario, New Super Mario Bros hit the DS and became one of the best-selling games of all time. The series repeated that massive success on the Wii and its now returning to handhelds, specifically the 3DS.

We’re looking forward to seeing the game in motion, as so far we’ve only seen a handful of screens despite the fact that it’ll be out in August. We can’t wait to see how the returning Raccoon Mario power works or what other new concepts the series has in store. And since Nintendo seems poised to make New Mario 2 its first day and date downloadable title, just what other online features will the game have?

For fans of anime, JRPGs and all things Japanese, Ni no Kuni sounds perfect. Featuring animation and art by the renowned Studio Ghibli and developed by Level-5 of Dragon Quest fame, Ni no Kuni seems destined for greatness.

In our most recent preview (Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch – hands-on with the achingly pretty Studio Ghibli/Level-5 RPG) we were at least impressed visually, but how many new gameplay ideas does this early 2013 title have to go with its good looks? And it should be noted that the response in Japan was good, but it wasn’t the resounding success many expected.

For more than a decade Intelligent Systems’ Paper Mario series has been the home for inviting RPGs with a great sense of humor and a brilliant visual aesthetic. Exclusive to home consoles for years, the franchise is coming soon to the 3DS with its easy to learn, hard to master gameplay in tow.

Despite being unveiled at E3 2010, the 3D Paper Mario is one of 13 games we haven't seen since last year's E3, but it’ll almost certainly be at this year’s show. The real question is will it actually come out this year?

After the big reveal earlier this year, Resident Evil 6 is on the fast track to hit store shelves in October. In the four years since RE5, the world of gaming has changed, and RE6 looks to have changed along with it.

At E3 we hope to see more of each of the three separate stories and witness how heroes Leon, Chris and Wesker Jr work not only with each other, but also with their respective (we assume) co-op partners. Will the E3 demo build on the global settings and depth we saw in our recent Resident Evil 6 preview - RE-boot 2.0?? And what about the rumored multiplayer?

When it first premiered at E3 in 2009, we knew little of this Metal Gear spin-off and in the three years since, we’d learned very little about it until the full-on reboot was revealed in December.

Featuring a new, impressively ridiculous name and a developer that seems impeccably suited for the game – Platinum, creators of Vanquish and Bayonetta – we already know the game will be there, according to director Kenji Saito, but just how much will be playable? Can this really be the perfect mash-up of Platinum’s hardcore action games with Kojima’s remarkably dense stories? And is there a chance it’ll actually be out this year?

We’re not quite sure how it happened, but we’ve gone from 0 to 60 in terms of buzz and excitement for this extraterrestrial-exterminating tactics game. Developer Firaxis has the excellent Civilization series under its belt, and it’s looking to give the same polish and precision to the nuanced strategy of the original X-COM. It’s a perfect blend of Eastern and Western strategy games, taking the clear-cut interface and methodical pace of the best Japanese strategy games and blending it with a stylized, action-imbued mix of the goofiness of Destroy All Humans! with the grittiness of Gears of War.

Also, the fact that we’re getting this jazzed to see a franchise at E3 2012 that started on the PC in 1994 is nothing short of awesome.

Is there any Nintendo series more perfect for the 3DS treatment than Animal Crossing? Not for the 3D effect necessarily, but so we can take Tom Nook and Mr. Resetti with us wherever we go. That, and the 3DS’s location-based gameplay and StreetPass feature would be perfect for the series. Since the games are all about customization, we’ll be able to show off our residences with the rest of the 3DS community.

We haven’t had an Animal Crossing game since 2008, so pardon our eagerness to get our hands on this new mobile entry in the series. We’ve already discussed what we want to see from Animal Crossing 3DS, so this is one E3 2012 stop we won’t be skipping.

FIFA 12 showed off a new engine, from revamped defending that forced you to think more tactically about whom you sent to get the ball back to a physics engine that removed the "arms going through a guy's head" effect to big overhauls to online, thanks to EA Sports Football Club. That game laid the foundation for years of solid soccer gaming. And now, we're going to witness the construction of the first floor.

During our first-look presentation, we saw the blueprint for several of FIFA 13's tweaks and revamps, including the more realistic first touch, which will create more chaos (in the best way possible) on the pitch, as well as new takes on dribbles and defense. We don't know that EA will reveal everything at E3 (traditionally, all of the information regarding online features and Manager Mode get revealed in late summer), but at the very least, we'll get to play it and feel the difference in gameplay fundamentals for ourselves.

We’ve wanted a true sequel to Star Fox 64 for well over a decade now, and with rumors swirling around that Fox McCloud and crew will be doing barrel rolls on Nintendo’s next gen console, we are eager to see the space shooter show up during Nintendo’s E3 press conference.

We have some high hopes for Star Fox on Wii U. Mostly, we're hoping that a majority of the action will take place in Arwings and Landmasters, rather than on-foot a la Star Fox Adventures. Star Fox Wii U could take full advantage of the motion capabilities and touch screen on the Wii U tablet and maybe even set the precedent for how the controller is used in future games. Nintendo loves doing that.

Dishonored has the stealth elements of Thief, the super-powered action gameplay of Bioshock, and an open-world style levels that let you approach missions as you see fit. Jump in with guns (and powers) blazing, setting off alarms and eliminating anyone in the way of your assassination target, or use the multitude of teleportation, possession, and offensive powers to sneak in and kill your target unseen.

It’s up to you. Add a unique world that’s a cross between steam punk and Victorian England visual styles and you’ve got one of the most intriguing FPSs we’ve seen in years, and we can’t wait to see more. We've already had a taste, checking out the game and writing a Dishonored preview, but we're ready to see other elements of the game in action at E3.

We’re almost certain we are going to get a good long look at what Halo 4 has to offer at this year’s E3; including his new enemy and some basic story information. Whether Chief will be up against the Covenant again is yet to be seen, but aside from MC getting some new duds, we really don't know that much about this sequel.

For as excited as we are for the singleplayer information, we're even more hyped for multiplayer details. We've seen some Halo 4 multiplayer screens, but beyond that there have just been mumblings and rumors of multiplayer being plot-based, or something. Will 343 be making significant tweaks to the formula? We guess we’ll have to wait and see... at E3!

Shooter fans might be a little burnt out with the yearly barrage of Call of Duty stamped titles, but we’re legitimately ecstatic to see more of Treyarch’s jump to the future. In our Black Ops 2 preview, we saw plenty of the old Call of Duty elements we loved. There was cinematic gameplay, epic set pieces, and lots and lots of shooting, but the near-futuristic setting made way for a few things we haven’t seen in a COD title before (like robot enemies and giving players full control over a freaking hover jet).

And we’ve only seen the story campaign so far! Zombies and the ever-popular multiplayer modes still haven’t seen the light of day, so we’ll cross our fingers and hope to get a more in-depth look at E3. Come on, Left 4 Dead of Duty!

Fac Cry 2 was one of the most unappreciated shooters of the generation, and the pre-release trailers for Far Cry 3 have had us itching to get our hands on the title. Not only is there an open world to explore and explosions-a-plenty, but you’ll also be able to trip-out on some pretty funky psychedelic mushrooms. Or, at least that's what we gathered from the most recent Far Cry 3 trailers.

We're hoping to get more details on the story at E3, hopefully finding out exactly what turned this friendly vacationer into a knife-wielding killer. Our guess? Malaria. Oh, wait, no, they already did that...

It’s been awhile since we’d heard anything about Metro: Last Light. That is, until the Metro Last Light live-action trailer released last week showing the end of the world at the sound of thousands of terrified, screaming Russians.

Hopefully, we’ll get to see more at this year’s E3 - we can’t wait trudge around in the horrific post-apocalyptic underground. In preparation, we’re already stock-piling bullets.

How could we not be excited for Aliens: Colonial Marines? The most recent Aliens vs. Predator title didn’t do the Alien franchise justice, so we’re glad to have a dedicated xenomorph versus human conflict in the works.

But what’s even more awesome is the potential of seeing what the game looks like on the Wii U - we can’t wait for the inevitable announcement that the new tablet controller will play the part of the motion detector. Just imagine standing in a dark hall as the radar pulse beeps faster and faster, not on the TV, but on the controller in your hands. Suddenly, you realize that it's too late! There’s an Alien right behind you! So scary.

Between having the chance to play with new suit abilities, picking up alien weapons, and exploring some fantastic looking overgrown environments, there’s plenty for us to be excited for in Crysis 3. Prophet will be taking on the role of the hunter rather than the hunted, and, hopefully, we’ll get to see how this change in theme affects Crysis 3’s gameplay. We’ve already seen the compound bow silently take down enemies without interfering with the stealth field, and being able to use explosive-tipped arrows remind us of the old Rambo movies – except... with stealth camouflage.

We’ve been impressed with what developer Danger Close has done with the Medal of Honor series so far. Many might dismiss Medal of Honor: Warfighter as another Call of Duty clone vying for the FPS crown, but the astonishing visuals (powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine), destructible environments, and various plot settings spread across the world already have us intrigued.

We loved the multiplayer in the last Medal of Honor (as you can read in our Medal of Honor review), so we’re hoping we see the more Battlefieldy online skirmishes make a return and differentiate Warfighter from all the other Call of Dutys out there.

It appears the rumors surrounding a sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow are true, at least in some form. We already know about a version of the game for the 3DS called Mirror of Fate, but that doesn't mean there's only one LoS in development.

We're still expecting a Wii U, Xbox 360, or PlayStation 3 version of the game to be revealed at E3. Even if this is the only version, though, we're still excited to get some hands-on time, because we're definitely interested in seeing what Konami can do with a Castlevania game on Nintendo's handheld.

Lost Planet 3 is sure to cool things down (because it takes place on a snow-covered planet again, get it?) at E3 this year as the series returns to its roots. Players will take on the role of Jim Peyton and explore E.D.N. III in this prequel that looks to lay the foundation for the original’s story. From what we’ve seen, this go-round hints at a more character-driven, survival-horror take on the series, giving the player a chance to learn more about Jim while exploring foreboding abandoned colonies.

But don’t get us wrong: Lost Planet wouldn’t be Lost Planet without big ol’ bugs. Your battles against the Akrid are aided by a utility rig, a gigantic upgradable mining machine capable of going toe-to-toe with some of the games bigger bosses. Hopefully these elements (and a bunch more) are going to be shown off on the conference floor this year, because we’re jonesing for more bug-killing action, and we’re optimistic that LP3 will make up for LP2’s disappointments.

After six long years, the full-blown sequel to one of our favorite real-time strategy games is coming to fruition – and it’s looking as amazing by today’s standards as the original looked by 2006 standards.

Relic's next Company of Heroes game looks like it's taking everything we loved about the original and expanding upon it, making it immediately attractive to fans of the series (which, as we said before, we totally are). This, mixed with the new graphical style which brings the visuals up to 2012's standards, mean it's a game we can't wait to get our hands all over at E3.

Well, obviously The Last of Us needs to be on this list. Naughty Dog's first post-Uncharted games looks unlike anything we've seen before, with a mood that's more akin to dark, moody novels than most video games.

And despite seeing it a few weeks ago (and being completely blown away when we wrote our Last of Us preview), we still don't know too much about it. How will it play? Is it similar to Uncharted? Is it something truly different? So many questions will hopefully be answered at E3 - we can't wait.

When we started putting this list together we thought we'd have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get anywhere near 50, but in the end we were amazed at how many games we actually needed to cut just to keep it to a reasonable number. This, of course, isn't even counting the things we don't see coming, and the giant announcements Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are planning.
