Look, does no one in Hollywood remember Mortal Kombat? The poor, scared, shivering wrecks of Total Film’s collective brains certainly do. So word that Paul WS Anderson is plotting another game adaptation doesn’t exactly fill us with shiny joy.
That said, he’s picked a goodie: Castlevania, which was launched in 1986, is a veritable vampire-hunting feast, and prime material for adaptation. Anderson plans to spin a tale that charts the early years of Dracula and the Belmont Clan, a family dedicated to seeing that Drac and his nefarious Nosferatu-alike kind don’t snack on humanity.
There’s no cast yet, but Anderson’s looking at a 2006 shoot. Here’s hoping he asks Van Helsing helmer Stephen Sommers for advice. And then ignores it.
