Terminator TV series on the way

The Terminator franchise is expanding beyond the already-confirmed big-screen reboot, with Skydance and Anapurna planning a new TV series to be created in conjunction with the next film.

The new series is being written and produced by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, while the writers of the new film, Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, will also be involved as executive producers.

The new film and new series are expected to share an interlinked narrative, which is expected to take the franchise in a new direction to the one established by the original film and its sequels.

This isn’t the first time a Terminator series has been commissioned, with The Sarah Connor Chronicles struggling to carve out a significant audience, before eventually being cancelled.

The new film is currently in the process of casting its leading roles, with Brie Larson and Emilia Clarke the current frontrunners to play Sarah Connor. Tom Hardy is thought to be in line for John Connor, while Arnold Schwarzenegger is also expected to return.
