The Fortnite Cardboard Box has made a return to the battle royale, to mark the arrival of the legendary hero from the Metal Gear Solid series. If this feels familiar then you have good memory, as it's basically the same as the Creepin' Cardboard item that was last available in Fortnite during 2020 as part of Chapter 2 Season 2! With this item you can hide in plain sight, while still being able to move around – though obviously if you get spotted then a box with legs is a bit of a giveaway. Where to find a Cardboard Box in Fortnite
To find a Cardboard Box in Fortnite, head to the island I've marked on the map above. This is pretty much directly north of the Lavish Lair named location, and on it you'll find the Piney Lane landmark. Look for a campfire, which should have Fortnite Solid Snake sat next to it – unless he's patrolling the area nearby.
You should be able to locate Solid Snake by looking at your minimap, as he's one of the Fortnite characters you can hire to fight alongside you so will be marked by a special icon when you're close. Interact with him and you'll have the option to purchase the Mythic Cardboard Box item for 100 gold bars – though bear in mind that his supply is limited, and if another player has already hired Snake then he won't be here. It's likely that Fortnite Cardboard Boxes will spawn as loot in other places, possibly at random, but for now this is the only location I have confirmed that will reliably provide them.
How to hide in a Fortnite Cardboard Box
After you've found them, you can aim and throw a Fortnite Cardboard Box to place it on the ground. You start with a stack of five in your inventory, and your stock gradually regenerates over time, so although you can't run out of them you also can't wildly spam them all over the place. Approach a Cardboard Box and you'll see a Hide prompt, which will allow you to jump inside and stay out of view. You can walk around while inside the box, and if you equip a weapon it will allow you to pop out and fire when you aim it, but if the box takes any damage then it will crumple and disappear to remove your cover.
